We said goodbye to Elliott 12 months ago today.

Somehow, that feels like both yesterday and a lifetime ago.

There are so many dogs who have come onto our books this year who would have benefited from meeting you. Dogs you would have helped, dog owners you would have taught something to.

I’ve thought about you often while working, but a lot of the time, it’s when I’m at home, sitting on the couch, hoping you’ll just walk in the door.

To everyone who has commented on the posts shared about El over the past year, and to those who have continued to check in and share your memories and kind words, please know that I’ve read every single message. I’ve done my best to respond, even when I haven’t always known what to say.

Elliott was a very special dog.

He was my constant companion, my teacher, my friend, and for so many years, a huge part of what Good Dog is today.

Miss you every day, Elliott 💔

Very grateful to have been asked to be Arthur’s plus-one at his owners’ wedding last weekend.

Whilst we don’t ordinarily do this, Kevin & Nat have been long-term clients of ours, first with their previous Golden Retriever Henry and more recently with the training and development of Arthur, who is now 1 year and 10 months old.

The wedding was also held at one of Elliott’s favourite parks, which made being there with Arthur feel that little bit more special.

A lot goes into preparing a dog to be part of your special day. It’s not just about teaching them to sit nicely for a photo; they need to be extremely well-behaved, comfortable around crowds and lots of excitement, and have really strong foundations that can be called upon if required.

It was awesome to see all that work come together and have Arthur there to share such an important day with his family.

Congratulations again, Kevin & Nat! And thank you for trusting me with such an important part of your day ❤️

A little throwback to 11 years ago, when Elliott shared the screen with Brooke Satchwell.

Time flies!

Today we were on set for Elliott’s role in a Melbourne feature film called "What Time is My Heart?" We think he was very patient and coped with all the things that showbiz throws at you, including an upturned ice-cream vendor and 33 litres of ice-cream. He also got a lot of pats from the crew.

How did you choose your dog's name?

When we were deciding on a name for Sport, we wanted something that felt classic and old-timey, but was also short, punchy, and fun to call across a park. We needed a name that suited a high-drive puppy who we knew would love to play.

After throwing a few ideas around, we landed on Sport.

When we shared the name with our breeder, Pete, he smiled and told us that Sport was the name of the best dog he'd ever owned. It felt like a good omen, and from that moment on, the name stuck!

How did you decide on your dog's name? Was it a name you'd always loved, inspired by a favourite character, or did it just feel right?
