This Sunday, we’re wishing a gentle and heartfelt Happy Father’s Day to all fathers -to those with children still by their side, those remembering and missing a much-loved child or father figure, and fathers to children of every age, shape and species. 💛

Today, we celebrate the love of being a dad, and hold space for those carrying that love in their hearts. 🐾

Her family kindly shared these words:

"It was the hardest decision to say goodbye to our beautiful coco . 19 years of love and cuddles . Co co girl was a huge part of our lives. We cannot thank Laurel and the team at hold my paws enough. The team showed such love and respect to our beautiful girl . They made such a sad time that much easier . They were so careful and gentle with our girl . We thank them for such a peaceful goodbye ❤️"

Sometimes, one of the kindest things we can do is say goodbye while there are still good moments left. 🤍🐾

It is never easy to have to choose when to say goodbye to our beloved pets.
Choosing a peaceful goodbye a little earlier can allow your pets final day to still feel like them. Allowing to say goodbye before a crisis occurs can allow your final memories together full of joy and comfort, over distress to you both.

We never know when it's the right time, but it's ok if we choose to say goodbye on a "good" day.

A "good" day can leave us with memories together in their favourite spots, playing with their favourite toy, or eating their favourite snacks, doing your favourite things together. It also gives families the chance to say goodbye on their own terms, rather than having that moment decided for them by an emergency.

Sometimes, these goodbye's can be the kinder ones on both our furry family members and ourselves.

🕊️ In loving memory of beautiful Alfie 🩷

The love we share with our pets doesn’t end when we say goodbye. It lives on in the memories, the little routines we miss, and in just how deeply their absence is felt. 🤍

His owner kindly shared these beautiful words:

“I cannot recommend Laurel highly enough. Losing my beautiful Alfie was one of the most heartbreaking experiences of my life, and Laurel treated both him and me with such extraordinary kindness, dignity, and compassion.

When she arrived to collect Alfie, she had prepared the back of her car with the most beautiful, soft bed, surrounded by delicate fairy lights. It created such a peaceful and loving space for me to say my final goodbye to my precious boy. It was a gesture I will never forget and one that brought so much comfort during such unimaginable grief.

Laurel’s care didn’t end there. She continued to check in on me afterwards, offering genuine support, understanding, and even providing contacts for grief counselling. Her empathy, warmth, and kindness went far beyond what I ever expected. She truly cares about the families she helps and understands the deep bond we share with our beloved pets.

Thank you, Laurel for treating Alfie with such love and respect, and for helping me through the darkest day of my life with such grace and compassion. I will be forever gratefu 🙏❤️”

Sometimes they find us at exactly the right time 🐾❤️

The love, comfort and companionship our dogs, and all of our other beloved pets bring into our lives is something truly special. They have a way of filling spaces in our hearts we didn’t even realise were empty.

🌿 In loving memory of Yuki 🌿

There is something incredibly special about being able to say goodbye at home — surrounded by the people, animals and familiar comforts that have made up a lifetime of love.

For Yuki, that meant having his family close, gentle hands resting on him, and his brother Bill right beside him as he peacefully took his final breath. 🤍

We are so grateful to Yuki’s family for trusting Laurel to help guide them through such a tender moment, and for sharing these beautiful words:

“We recently had to say goodbye to our beloved cat, Yuki, and Laurel from Hold My Paws was an absolute angel during the process. She came to our home with such gentleness and compassion, and cared for Yuki with incredible tenderness in his final moments.

My husband, our son, and Yuki’s brother Bill were all able to be with him as he passed. Laurel created a peaceful, loving space where we could lay our hands on him and pat him gently as he took his last breath. Bill stayed right by his side.

We are deeply grateful for Laurel’s kindness, professionalism, and heart. She made an unbearably sad moment feel calm, respectful, and full of love. We couldn’t recommend her more highly.”

Meaningful ways to preserve a paw print or fur clipping 🤍

Sometimes the smallest details: the shape of a paw, the softness of their fur or the sound of their identification tag, they old some of our most powerful memories.

A paw print can be framed beside a favourite photograph, engraved onto jewellery, incorporated into artwork or used as the reference for a tattoo. A small fur clipping may be kept in a locket, memory box, framed display or professionally created memorial keepsake.

You may also choose to place these alongside their collar, tag, favourite photograph or a handwritten letter about the life you shared.

There is no correct way to memorialise a beloved companion, and you do not need to make these decisions immediately. Some families display their keepsakes, while others prefer to protect them somewhere private until they feel ready.
Whatever you choose, it does not need to be elaborate. Its value comes from the love and memories it represents. 🐾

Peggy was a deeply loved member of her family, and saying goodbye to her was an incredibly difficult decision.

We feel honoured to have supported Peggy and her family, helping them understand her changing needs and ensuring her final moments were peaceful, gentle and surrounded by love at home.

Her family kindly shared:

“Hold my Paws was a wonderful service, we are so glad we found it. Laurel was great at explaining our pet’s situation so that we could make the best decision for our pup. And she was available for any questions and support which we so needed in a really difficult time. And when it came time at the end, Laurel brought a lovely gentle respectful presence. We are so thankful and appreciative of her and would absolutely recommend this service.”

🩷 Grief can feel impossibly heavy in the beginning: filling every quiet moment and making everyday life feel unfamiliar.

With time, it may not disappear completely, but it often begins to soften.

The painful moments may become less constant, allowing loving memories, gratitude and even smiles to sit alongside the sadness.

There is no correct timeline and no need to “move on.”

Be gentle with yourself as you learn to carry the love and the loss together. 🤍🐾

After 13 beautiful years together, Khloe’s family faced the heartbreaking task of saying goodbye to their deeply loved companion.

We feel incredibly honoured to have supported Khloe and her family during such a tender time, and to have helped make her final moments peaceful, comfortable and surrounded by love in her own home.

Her family kindly shared:

“We had to say goodbye to our beloved Khloe after 13 beautiful years. From the very first moment Laurel came to our home, she was nothing short of extraordinary. Laurel guided us through such a difficult time with such care and compassion, ensuring we felt supported at every step, with every moment and detail thought out. Afterwards, Laurel continued to check in on us, sent thoughtful messages, and really helped us feel less alone in our grief.
