Beautiful Nala recently needed a stay in hospital, and like many cats, she felt much safer having somewhere cosy to hide away. ๐Ÿฑโค๏ธ

So our nurses got to work and created her very own โ€œhospital cat palaceโ€ โ€” a snug little hidey-hole where she could retreat, relax and feel more secure while we cared for her. ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿพ

Sometimes, itโ€™s the simple things that can make a hospital stay that little bit less stressful for our feline patients. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฑ

Meet Daisy, a gorgeous 2-year-old Golden Retriever who recently decided to live up to her nameโ€ฆ by retrieving a sock and swallowing it! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿงฆ

Luckily, Daisyโ€™s owners brought her straight in to see Dr Michael and Nurse Makara. They were able to safely induce vomiting โ€” and that offending sock made a rather spectacular exit! ๐Ÿคข๐Ÿ’จ

Thankfully, it came back up before it could cause an intestinal blockage, meaning Daisy avoided potentially major surgery. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Lovely Apollo has unfortunately been suffering from repeated urethral obstructions, commonly referred to as โ€œbeing blockedโ€.

๐Ÿ’ฆ Urinary problems in cats can fall under the umbrella of **Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD)**, which includes a range of conditions affecting the bladder and urethra. In male cats, inflammatory cells and crystals or stones can sometimes obstruct the narrow urethra, preventing them from passing urine. A complete blockage is a life-threatening emergency and requires immediate veterinary treatment.

โœ‚๏ธ After Apollo experienced repeated episodes, the decision was made to perform a perineal urethrostomy (PU). This surgery creates a new, wider urinary opening, reducing the risk of future urethral obstruction. Dr Jaqui performed Apolloโ€™s surgery, with his favourite nurse Bree right there to look after him.

๐Ÿ’™ Weโ€™re hoping this procedure means a much more comfortable future for this very lovely boy. ๐Ÿพ

It takes a huge team to provide the consistently excellent care and service weโ€™re so proud of, and we simply couldnโ€™t do it without them.

But beyond everything they do, itโ€™s the people themselves who make our clinic what it is โ€” the teamwork, laughs, support, compassion and genuine care for each other that make this place feel like one big family. โค๏ธ

So today, a massive ๐—ง๐—›๐—”๐—ก๐—ž ๐—ฌ๐—ข๐—จ to all of our wonderful nurses, receptionists, assistants and admin staff. You are the heart of our clinic, and we appreciate you more than you know. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™

Val the Greyhound decided to do a little self-service shopping on her way through the waiting room, helping herself to a pigโ€™s ear before heading out the back for her appointment. And honestly? Excellent choice! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Her newly acquired pigโ€™s ear became equal parts emotional support item and snack while she had her nails trimmed and bloods taken. ๐Ÿฉธโœ‚๏ธ Greyhounds can be just a little bit dramatic when it comes to nail trims, so having something delicious to focus on made the perfect distraction!

The best part? Val didnโ€™t even let the blood collection interrupt snack time - she happily kept chewing the entire way through! ๐Ÿ˜†

๐Ÿพ Meet Gus - a very handsome 2-year-old Bull Mastiff who is quite possibly one of the happiest boys around! Gus came in for his castration as well as a prophylactic gastropexy.

๐Ÿ“š Large, deep-chested dogs can be at increased risk of Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus (GDV), commonly known as bloat. This is a life-threatening emergency where the stomach fills with gas and can twist on itself, compromising its blood supply and requiring urgent surgery.

A prophylactic gastropexy is a preventative procedure where the stomach is surgically attached to the inside of the abdominal wall. While it doesnโ€™t prevent the stomach from bloating, it significantly reduces the risk of it twisting - the most dangerous part of a GDV.

โœ‚๏ธ Dr Rob, assisted by Dr Penny and nurse Damaris, performed Gusโ€™s procedures, with our big happy boy charming everyone along the way.

A whole lot of dog, a whole lot of personality and 100% certified beefcake. We love our Gus boy! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿถโค๏ธ
