Rabea's Pet Sitting I am an experienced pet sitter, having worked with Madpaws for six years and also volunteering with various shelters across Melbourne.

I have a Certificate 2 in Animal Studies and Certificate 3 in Companion Animal Services. I provide pet sitting services. So you could say I am both experienced and qualified to care for your pet/s. My ABN is: 64 86347 9650 and I have public liability insurance. Further I have a current Working With Children Check and a Police Check, as does my husband, because of current and previous work positions. We intend to keep both up to date. We have fostered guinea pigs and dogs over many years as well as owning our own dogs, cats and guinea pigs in the past, including growing up with animals. So you can feel confident that we will love and care for your animals like they are our own. I always provide updates and photos of owner's pets, while the owners are away, to give them peace of mind and so they can relax and enjoy their holiday or time away, while we are caring for their beloved pets. I am also up to date with all COVID vaccinations and have an annual influenza vaccination as well - which is also a requirement for my other role as a carer for the aged. The other things I wanted to add is that apart from pet hosting dogs and guinea pigs (where animals stay in our home), I also offer a pick up/drop off service at $20 for each service for areas close by, a bit more for more distant areas. My pet hosting fees are $38 a night, which has remained the same for the past couple of years, as I am very conscious of the cost of living for my clients. If your dog/s stays more than 7 nights, I give a 10% discount. I only accept two dogs at a time, and if they are from different households and have not met before, there needs to be a meet and greet beforehand to ensure the dogs get along and can stay together. Guinea pig fees are $10 a night (doesn't matter if there are 1, 2 or 3 guinea pigs staying), regardless of how many nights they stay with us. We only have enough room for 3 guinea pigs at any one time, provided they are from the same household. These are kept in a separate room away from the dogs, separated by a baby gate.

Why don't we have kids, some might ask? Two reasons - we weren't able to have any and my pet sitting (and having pets of our own over the years) has often felt like we do have kids, just not the breastfeeding kind.

Otis is a good example: he has three nicknames - Hurricane Otis, Boofhead (which he has responded to once or twice!) and Shaggy dog.

He does have a fabulous looking shaggy fringe that falls right over his eyes and sometimes I reckon he is still learning to coordinate those oversized grizzly bear paws of his 😄

A hobby of his is raiding the kitchen bin and food scraps bin. He is also a pickpocket - stealing a tissue out of my pocket while sitting right next to me on the couch.

He is also a keen gardener. He has helped me pick up twigs and bark in our backyard, however he believed they would look better on our living room rug than in our green waste bin.

Otis also loves following us to the bathroom and if we are not careful, he will try to join us in the shower if we don't close the door behind us.
A bed burglar? Definitely! He loves jumping up on our bed without permission. 🫣😆

When Harvey was still with us and if i was patting him, Otis would swoop in like an only child experiencing sibling rivalry for the first time 😂

And have you tried brushing an 18 month old cocker spaniel? Aka the cheeky toddler.
He thinks the grooming brush and the hands attached to it are a chew toy 🙈
One of his chew toys is actually a grooming brush. Needless to say, I am better off leaving Otis to be groomed by a professional. Not from lacking trying though 😉

All in all, Otis is quite the character, full of beans, testing every boundary, very cheeky and lots of fun, but he is also quite loveable 🥰🥰

Not long ago when i got home from work, Otis jumped on the couch, rolled over and demanded belly rubs. His wish was my command. A few moments later, Otis somehow rolled off the couch and onto the floor 🤣

Not to worry, he found his feet again.

Did anyone else's dog sense this morning's earthquake? Or maybe your cat sensed something?
I had just gone back to bed when Harvey started barking. No wind around, no possums on the roof, I got this eerie feeling.

Mark started to tell Harvey to stop barking, but I told Mark don't do that, Harvey is barking for a very good reason.

Next thing we felt the earth move right under us! Harvey sensed the earthquake, what a clever boy! Otis slept right through it all.

Harvey has gone home now, but here are a couple of photos from yesterday afternoon and evening.

It seems the boys like to play ball separately. They will both chase the same ball, but often Otis will give up and go back to sniffing and if he does get the ball, it doesn't stay in his mouth for long and he goes back to sniffing.

Harvey now has a play mate for the next 7 nights. Otis the cocker spaniel. The two have not stayed together before, but the meet and greet was similar to this video. 😄

Harvey has been enjoying taking Lorenzo out today, too (don't think he wants Otis to have him, even though Otis has his own Kong bear) .
