Resharing for a beautiful adoption opportunity 🐾
💔 WAITLIST 💔
One year old. Affectionate, social and fantastic with both dogs and children.
And already adopted twice… and returned twice.
The first time, his family’s working circumstances changed, and they no longer had the time they wanted to give him.
The second time, there simply wasn’t the patience for normal puppy behaviour, and the children had become bored with him.
Now he is back in a shelter, where the longer he stays, the more frustrated he becomes.
This is a young Border Collie. He is intelligent, energetic, busy, curious and bred to work. He needs more than a few walks and a backyard. He needs training, mental stimulation, structure, routine and people who genuinely understand what living with a working breed involves.
He is also deaf, so his training will need to use visual cues. But his deafness isn’t the issue. At heart, he is still a young Border Collie who needs a job, an outlet for his busy mind and humans willing to put in the work.
We are struggling to find the right home for him, and we desperately don’t want to see him spend months in a shelter simply because the right person hasn’t seen him yet.
And yes… the song has meaning. 🎵
In rescue, “My Way” doesn’t always end well.
Our advice comes from experience and from knowing the dog. When that guidance isn’t followed, sadly, it is often the dog who pays the price.
That’s why we ask our carers and adopters to work with us, do it our way and trust the process and remember that we are all here for the same reason: the dog. 💙🐾
It’s frustrating. It’s heartbreaking. And it’s not fair.
But we keep coming back, again and again, because if we don’t fight for these dogs, who will?
Do you have a spare couch, some patience and an open mind? Are you willing to work with us and follow our advice?
We would love to hear from you.
So would this gorgeous boy — and the many others sitting on our waitlist who have already been let down by humans. 💔🐾
