Dis berry berry goodboi needs all the well wishes and prayers you can send.

Each day he is using either of his hind legs less and less, now he just crawls or drags himself and he hasn’t pooped in a few days.

I booked in with Dr House the absolute earliest I could (Friday the 18th).

We don’t know what the visit with Dr House will entail, but we have a high end quote for possible MRI or CT scans at about $4000, and then consult and possible pain relief meds or other immediate triage meds could be up to another $1000.

I also have him booked in with our wonderful GP vet Dr Ebony, earlier next week for his first puppy vax and microchipping.

At the moment I’m giving him a light pain relief dosage because he just can’t weight bear at this stage and yelps if I try to manipulate either of his legs.

This photo is him stretching out his legs which he’ll only do while on his back, even when I lift him into my arms he won’t extend his legs.

We are still $6,966.29 away from our funding goal and needs for this week, come Monday next week I’ll need to add an additional $4800 for our weekly running expenses and then $5000 for Provolone’s vet care. I’ll personally be covering his vax and microchipping at this point.

We’ve had ZERO donations today 💔, but prior we’ve chipped away at our goal, thanks to many generous people 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

I know I keep asking, I don’t know what else I can do.

We are getting closer and closer to sorting our Charity Status, but until then it’s a bit of a hopeless loop.

I have some really good news and some slightly heartbreaking news…

On Friday I had a bit of a mental health break, I felt I was possibly at my lowest point, well, my lowers point in a longtime.

I’m still dealing with a lot, an overwhelming lot.

The good news is that some very kind and very generous people rallied and donated a combined amount of $4334.45 🙌🏼😭

The not so great news is that baby dog Provolone seems to have some major hind hip issues and this would explain his discomfort and lack of desire to run and play like a normal puppy of his age should be.

He seems in pain, and I don’t believe a GP vet assessment would be necessary.

Last night (Sunday night) I messaged Dr Arthur House and he agreed that I need to bring Provolone in for an assessment. This will lead to diagnostics that would include some sort of imaging being done. I’m not sure if it’ll be ultrasound or CT scans. Has he has a full cleft palate it might be that a CT is best for him as Dr House could possibly use this opportunity to see what’s going on in his mouth and on his hips.

THANK YOU to every single person who donated. Lots of small donations and a few rather large donations, they all add up and a portion of our bills from the last two weeks have thankfully been paid off.

But as today is Monday, I’ve had to adjust our goal to reflect this week’s financial operational costs. I’m hoping that this will cover our specialist appointment and diagnostics with Dr House 🤞🏼

This is the time to donate if you’re able to, if we loose momentum then everything gets put on hold (like vet care) and the bills start piling up to an unfathomable amount.

Today we have raised ZERO dollars.

Also today I found out that our adoption application system has been down for almost a month and numerous applications have been submitted and we have never received them.

We pay just over $4000 per year to a company that is supposed to provide us with web hosting, support and a high functioning website. For three years running the company we pay this too have taken our money and systematically reduced their service to almost nothing but billing us.

This accumulated “goal” was to cooler last week and this week that just ended today, operational costs.

This includes vetting that I haven’t been able to complete for either Praline or Provolone, our current food bill of $1200+ with barking good, $630 bill of feed for our sanctuary paddock animals, power bill of $600+, new web hosting and services to leave the current failing service we have… and a plethora of other expenses.

I personally do not have the funds or the expertise to fix any of the above.

On Monday I have drop in my car after a car accident I was in a few months back. My car has been quite badly damaged and my very high insurance of $160pm doesn’t cover a hire car and will not be covering all damage repairs due to a loop hole in my contract. And they have also raised my insurance to $260pm and decreased the value of my car by $7000 despite it being purchased only 2 years ago.

This car is the sole vehicle for this rescue. It’s how the animals get to and from our vets and how even the post and supplies are collected. Not much gets delivered to us, I have to collect from the post office daily.

Things are grim, so grim that I’m going to be completely offline and out of phone contact for the next 24 hours to preserve my mental health.

I’m sorry, but I don’t think I can get any further into a breaking point than where I’m at right now.

I’m not going to list out the ways you can donate, because frankly the posts that do list the details get the lowest engagement.

I won’t be contactable for the next little while, so if there are any puppies that need our rescue help, they will have to seek elsewhere for the time being.

Sadly Petticoat Tails has passed away 💔

I tried everything I had to keep her going however the drastic weight loss and lack of nutrition being absorbed took her little life.

I have had a few cases of ME in neonates in the past, it’s a very difficult thing to manage and get through when it is triggered during weaning of puppies so small and young.

Petticoat Tails weighed just 198grams and she was exactly 4 weeks old today. She is survived by her 4 sisters who are thriving. Sadly their mama passed away within 24hours of her c-section and 3 other puppies in the litter were also born sleeping.

This was truly an accidental litter and the breeder and I have been in close contact throughout this journey (with many donations made by the breeder and all efforts to help with Petticoat’s care). We at Life of Pikelet are assisting with desexing all remaining dogs in the family with our last litter program.

Petticoat Tails will be returned to her family and buried next to her mama and other angel siblings.

I’m pretty fatigued and my heart hurts, I put my life on hold this past week because I knew this little girl was worth everything I could do, it just wasn’t enough.

URGENT HELP NEEDED 🚨

I have a very weird request but I thought I’d put it out into the world just in case someone can offer their help.

Baby Petticoat Tails is struggling to thrive.

I’m about 80% sure that she has megaoesophagus.
Mega is a condition where the oesophagus becomes enlarged and has reduced or absent muscular movement, so it cannot effectively push food and liquid into the stomach.

Right now Petticoat brings up about 3/4 of her food, and it comes up through both her mouth and nostrils.

I have been trying to feed her and hold her upright for 30minutes each feed (every two hours), and then on top of that, I’m being a helicopter mum around the clock for days now and I’m loosing a bit of hope on how I can not only manage this, but move forward with her care.

Here is what I think would best help Petticoat Tails

⚡️A urgently made front pack carrier in her size (she is about 210grams) where I can keep her upright for 30minutes after each feed. She is far too young for a Bailey Chair (her teeth haven’t come in yet). (See second image for reference)

⚡️A small packet of very high quality small puppy kibble (Taste of the Wild puppy or Royal Canin Puppy mini)

⚡️A few tins of Royal Canin starter mousse, Mother and Baby Dog.

Or send me a private message on social media for measurements. The carrier itself could even be made of a sock as she is so tiny, I just don’t have capacity to fashion something up myself and run the rescue.

It’s a Monday memory!

I’m pretty sure this was a good 8 or so years ago. It was the year after the book tour and Pikelet & I had been invited back down to appear for more pawtographing at the Melbourne Writers Festival 😳

I’m not sure there’s any other dog in Australia that had even an ounce of similar fan fair as Pikelet did… he also just assumed he lived a *normal* dogs life!

9 hours ago I did a plea for donations, then I did another one a few hours after that. We’ve raised a combined $250 all day.

And while that’s $250 more than we had yesterday, it barely scratches the $9100 we urgently need to raise and use to pay off this week’s and last week’s operational costs (which includes food and vet bills).

I’m not going to bother with all the donation details again.

I guess I just wanted to update you all on how difficult it is to find the funds. Last week we raised about $500 (a little less) and that took our total down to the $9100 still needed.

Things are pretty dire, and while we do our best to stay optimistic about our impending charity status and DGR, it’s hard going at the moment.

Puppy Praline is patiently waiting for her foster mama (me 🙋🏼‍♀️) to get her act into gear and sort out her adoption bio already.
