We are an independent, privately owned veterinary clinic located in Kyneton, Central Victoria, proudly caring for our community since 1983.

🩺 WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re seeking a motivated and caring Veterinary Nurse who:
• Holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or higher.
• Has a genuine passion for providing exceptional care to our hospital patients.
• Has strong anaesthetic monitoring skills and a commitment to patient safety.
• Has good computer skills and confidence using veterinary practice software.
• Can multitask, prioritise and stay organised in a busy, fast-paced environment.
• Has a positive, team-oriented attitude and excellent communication skills.
• Is proactive, compassionate and committed to supporting patients, clients and colleagues.

🐾 Is your pet’s skin trying to tell you something? 🐾

Itchy, red, flaky or irritated skin is more than just a nuisance for your pet — it can be a sign that something needs attention. 🐶🐱

Some common signs of skin problems include:

🔹 Excessive scratching or licking
🔹 Redness or irritation
🔹 Hair loss or thinning patches
🔹 Hot spots or sores
🔹 Dry, flaky or greasy skin
🔹 Recurrent ear problems
🔹 Changes in your pet’s coat or excessive / unsusal skin odour

There are many possible causes, including parasites, allergies, infections and other underlying conditions. That’s why it’s important not to simply treat the itch without finding out why your pet is itchy in the first place.

💡 Our tip: If you notice persistent scratching, licking, chewing or changes to your pet’s skin or coat, it’s worth getting them checked by your veterinarian.
Early investigation can help get your pet back to feeling comfortable and enjoying life again. ❤️

✨VETERINARY SUPPORT STAFF DAY✨

Including Technicians, Nurses and Receptionists🐾

This week we celebrate the efforts and contributions of our supporting staff who contribute so very much to the care we can give to our patients.

Just as in hospitals, our caring staff make a huge difference to the comfort and recovery of our patients. Our veterinarians are highly trained in the diagnosis and treatment of disease for our pets, and their work is magnified by the detailed care given and supervised by our support team.

Monitoring of patients, adjustment of treatments, maintaining a hygienic environment and helping the veterinarians in managing the many other facets of care mean that our vets can care for more patients, more effectively, and we can provide the extra love and support that makes all the difference to our furry friends.

Our nurses and technician all hold Certificate, Diploma or Degree level qualifications that make them an integral part of our patient care team. They are able to monitor anaesthesia, take X-rays (with appropriate licensing), and monitor many aspects of a patient’s progress and treatment in conjunction with our veterinarians, to maximise safety and prompt recovery.

Our customer service staff are very experienced at helping you access the right care promptly according to need and smoothing the flow of patients to our nurses and veterinarians.

We express our appreciation to our support team for all your study, skills and knowledge and for your hard work in helping our clients and patients so well. Without you we could not provide the service we do to the animals of the Kyneton area.

🐾 RAT BAIT CAN BE DEADLY TO PETS 🚨
Rat bait is highly toxic to cats and dogs and can cause severe internal bleeding, organ damage, or death.
⚠️ Warning signs may take 2–7 days to appear, so your pet can seem completely fine while serious poisoning is developing.
Watch for:
• Lethargy or weakness
• Pale gums
• Trouble breathing or coughing
• Reduced appetite or vomiting
• Blood in urine or stool
• Nosebleeds or other unusual bleeding
• If your pet has signs of poisoning, keep the patient calm and warm and seek urgent attention.
🚨 What to do: If you think your pet has eaten rat bait—or a poisoned rodent—contact your veterinarian or an emergency animal hospital immediately for advice. Don't wait for symptoms to appear, and don't induce vomiting unless a vet specifically instructs you to.
📦 Take the rat-bait packaging with you if possible. The active ingredient (such as warfarin or brodifacoum) helps the vet determine the correct treatment. There are safe and effective treatment available. If the poison was taken recently we may evacuate the stomach. In some cases medication will be required for 2-3 weeks to prevent illness developing.

🐾 Exercise — A Healthy Pet Is a Happy Pet! 🐶🐱

Regular exercise is an important part of keeping your pet healthy, happy and mentally stimulated. ❤️

Exercise can help support:

🐾 Healthy muscles and joints
⚖️ A healthy body weight
🧠 Mental stimulation and enrichment
❤️ Heart health
😌 Reduced boredom and unwanted behaviours

For dogs, this might mean walks, games of fetch, exploring new places or simply having a good play in the backyard. 🐕🎾

For cats, exercise can include interactive toys, chasing games, climbing, scratching posts and opportunities to explore their environment. 🐱🪶

Remember, every pet is different. The right amount of exercise depends on their age, breed, size, fitness level and overall health. Puppies, kittens, senior pets and pets with health conditions may need a different exercise routine.

💡 Our tip: Start slowly, build up gradually and watch for signs that your pet is getting tired or uncomfortable. If your pet tires rapidly or takes a long time to recover after exercise, it might be time for a health check and advice from your Veterinarian on the best type and quantity of exercise.
