🦎 BLUE-TONGUE LIZARD RESCUE – REDBANK PLAINS 🦎
Today, N&S Snake Catcher attended a daycare centre in Redbank Plains to safely remove this beautiful blue-tongue lizard.
As you can see from the photo, this little fellow was definitely in defence mode! 😮💙
But why do blue-tongue lizards stick out their bright blue tongues?
When a blue-tongue feels threatened, frightened or cornered, it may open its mouth wide, hiss, puff up its body and display its bright blue tongue.
💙 It’s a warning display! The bright blue tongue is designed to startle potential predators and make the lizard appear more intimidating.
Despite their tough appearance, blue tongue lizards are generally shy, harmless creatures that would much rather escape than fight. However, they can bite if frightened or handled.
🦎 Remember, they’re not being aggressive for no reason they’re simply trying to protect themselves!
Bluetongue lizards are also fantastic to have around your garden, helping control snails, slugs and other small pests.
This beautiful lizard was safely removed from the daycare, keeping both the children and our native wildlife safe. ❤️
