Still early days for B, but he’s showing the right attitude, plenty of feel on stock and, most importantly, a willingness to learn and work.

The young ones are always a work in progress — building confidence, developing their eye and educating them to work with you.

The Hooked On Working Dogs Team thoroughly enjoyed our time away at the Australian Utility Championship in Nyngan. It was great catching up with old mates, making new friendships, competing, judging and watching some outstanding dogs & handlers from across the country compete.

We’re incredibly proud of how our team performed, especially getting to spend the weekend bonding with our talented young pups and topping it off with both of the boys making the Top 7 in the Australian Championship.

🐾 Rogue took everything in her stride at her first trial on the road, I’m extremely satisfied with her progress!

🐾 J had a fantastic weekend, placing 3rd in Novice, 3rd in Improver, and finishing 7th overall in the Championship.

🐾 Sting continued his consistent form in outside trialling, finishing 4th overall in the Championship.

This young team continues to improve every time they step onto the trial field, and we’re excited to see what they can achieve over the coming years.

A huge thank you to Angie, Gary & Dave, along with all of their sponsors, volunteers and helpers who made another successful championship possible.

Finally, a massive thank you to Nathalie and the entire Hooked On Hounds team for keeping everything running smoothly while I was away. Your support is truly appreciated.

No long road trip this weekend—the HOWD pack had the luxury of competing close to home at the Sydney 3 Sheep Championship. Even better, we finally broke our 3 Sheep drought and secured our first affiliated trial result! 👌🏽

After a proper brain fade in the Open, Sting bounced back in style, taking the win in both the Encourage (91–93) and Novice (92–95).

J was unlucky to finish just out of the placings in the Novice (97–71) and also put together a handy 87 in the Open—good enough for the Improver Final… if I’d actually entered him! 🤦🏽‍♂️

Rogue stepped onto the 3 Sheep course for the very first time. She got a little lost on the cast but recovered well, worked her sheep nicely, managing to get them into the pen with time to spare for some education. Plenty of positives to take away and an exciting future ahead.

A massive thank you to everyone at the Sydney Sheepdog Club, along with all the volunteers, judges, helpers and sponsors who made the weekend possible. Your hard work is greatly appreciated.

Raven is a beautiful 15-month-old black female (entire) working-line Labrador looking for an exceptional home where she can continue to thrive.

She is an incredibly intelligent, athletic young dog with a fantastic temperament and a genuine desire to work. Raven is a natural retriever with excellent toy and food drive, making her highly engaging to train and live with.

About Raven:
• DOB: 28/03/2025
• Natural retrieving ability
• Loves swimming and being in the water
• Outstanding nature and temperament
• Environmentally confident and adaptable
• Excellent with other dogs, horses & livestock
• Walks nicely on lead
• Crates and tethers exceptionally well
• Good impulse control
• Understands basic obedience
• Strong foundation in conditioned reinforcement markers
• Solid scent detection foundations, currently imprinted on KONG with a natural freeze indication
• Highly cognitive, driven and eager to learn

Raven would be best suited to an active home that enjoys training and working with their dog, whether that be scent work, retrieving, sporting pursuits, or simply providing her with a meaningful job and purpose.

** Please Note - with extreme exercise, Raven can occasionally display a mild limp in her left front shoulder. With appropriate management and supplementation, this has improved significantly and continues to trend positively.
