Rory Gartside from Cootamundra Public School is representing Riverina Schools in both rugby league and rugby union at State Carnivals (in Parkes and Mudgee) for the second time, having also represented Riverina in both codes in 2025. Good luck Rory! The Foundation made a donation to help the family with the costs associated in these two carnivals.

Former local Cooper Dabin continued his great form in the Hammer Throw at the Australian Junior Athletics Championships in Brisbane, winning the under 18 National Title with a throw of 63.87metres. Cootamundra cowboy Brayden Oddy went into the 2025 Bucking Bulls Australia Finals standing in fifth place. After the Rylstone rodeo Brayden scored enough points on his last ride to be crowned National Champion rider. Out of 32 cowboys, two junior riders Bailey Searle and Brayden Oddy were leading the pointscore. Bailey Searle scored 77 points holding the lead until the last cowboy of the night, Brayden Oddy took the win with an 85-point ride. Brayden was named the 2025 Bucking Bulls Australia Champion! Congratulations!

Rising local soccer star Sophie Sannazzarro has been selected for the NSW under 16 team and will play in the Emerging Matildas Championships (Youth Nationals) in Melbourne in April.
Sophie was the only player selected from outside Sydney and Wollongong in the team.
Sophie represented the NSW Country Under 15 State Team for the Emerging Matilda’s Championships last year and has been selected again – a great achievement.

Sophie Boxsell continued her great form in the State-wide under 17's Lisa Fiaola Cup for the Riverina Bulls rugby league team. Playing lock forward in the semi-final against the Western Rams at Mudgee, Sophie scored 2 tries in the team's 26-16 win. The Riverina Bulls will now play in the final at Port Macquarie. Sophie also excels at rugby union, where she has also achieved great success. Good luck Sophie!!
