The Friend Animal Foundation is the only private, no kill animal shelter for unwanted, abused and abandoned companion animals in Zimbabwe. We provide care, shelter, rehabilitation and re-homing where possible, charging an adoption fee which covers the veterinary costs of vaccination and sterilization, which is mandatory for all our animals. The Foundation also offers single and family group boardi

ng facilities for dogs and cats at reasonable costs. The Friend Animal Foundation is a welfare organization and we survive only with the assistance and generosity of local and international donors. If you would like to get involved as a volunteer, become a sponsor, help in any way, or would like to adopt a pet, please contact us.

🫏🥕 Meet Maud, FAF’s resident snack inspector!

Maud is always very happy to welcome visitors, especially when snacks are involved. 😂

If you have some time, come and visit us. You can meet Maud, our goats, our cows and some of the other animals who call FAF home.

And if you forget the snacks, don’t worry. We have bags available to purchase for $5 when you visit, so you can enjoy feeding Maud and some of our other animals too. 🐐🐄

We love welcoming people through our gates and giving them the chance to spend time with our animals and learn a little more about what we do.

🐾 Purr & Pause

Two months on and our cats have settled in beautifully. They’re happy, relaxed and always ready for a little extra company.

If you feel like slowing down for a while, come and spend some time with them. Sit, cuddle, chat, enjoy a few purrs and have a quiet moment away from the rush of the day.

We’re also always finding simple ways to make the shelter brighter, cosier and full of character.

If you have blankets, cushions, pillows, old furniture, plants, artwork or anything colourful at home that you no longer need, it may be just the thing to give one of our shelter spaces a little more personality. Our cats and dogs are also very good at turning an old chair, cushion or blanket into a favourite spot.

We’d also love to welcome schools and groups to visit us. It’s a lovely opportunity for children to spend time around our animals, learn more about them and better understand kindness, care and responsible animal welfare.
