The Friend Animal Foundation The Friend Animal Foundation is a sanctuary for rescued animals.

The Friend Animal Foundation is the only private, no kill animal shelter for unwanted, abused and abandoned companion animals in Zimbabwe. We provide care, shelter, rehabilitation and re-homing where possible, charging an adoption fee which covers the veterinary costs of vaccination and sterilization, which is mandatory for all our animals. The Foundation also offers single and family group boarding facilities for dogs and cats at reasonable costs. The Friend Animal Foundation is a welfare organization and we survive only with the assistance and generosity of local and international donors. If you would like to get involved as a volunteer, become a sponsor, help in any way, or would like to adopt a pet, please contact us.

You find newborn kittens in the yard, garden, bush, a hole, the roof or somewhere you THINK they shouldn't be, and suddenly you decide they're abandoned? WHO GAVE YOU THE RIGHT TO DECIDE THAT?

Mother cats MOVE their kittens. They leave them hidden while they go out to hunt and find food. THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE SITTING ON TOP OF THEIR BABIES 24/7!

A kitten being alone DOES NOT mean it's an orphan!

And let's be brutally honest: MANY of the kittens being "rescued" are NOT ORPHANS. Their mothers are out there, looking for food, only to return and find their babies GONE because someone couldn't mind their own business!

STOP turning natural behaviour into a rescue emergency!

YOUR GOOD INTENTIONS DO NOT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO SEPARATE A MOTHER FROM HER BABIES!

Observe from a safe distance. Give the mother time to return. Ask experienced rescuers for advice before touching anything.

Of course, genuinely injured, endangered or confirmed orphaned kittens need help. But snatching every newborn you stumble upon is NOT rescuing. It can be a death sentence.

From Jail to Impact.

Jail & Bail is built around a simple idea: have some fun, get locked up, raise bail and turn that support into something practical.

The impact goes far beyond the day itself.

Food and grocery hampers have reached pensioners and Old Age Homes across Harare. Solar power has been installed to help provide more reliable electricity. And the support continues to reach people who need it.

That is what makes the madness worthwhile.

This year, Jail & Bail is back on 27 November at Tin Roof.

If you have been thinking about becoming an inmate, getting a team together, supporting an inmate, putting your business behind the event or helping someone make bail, now is the time to get involved.
