🐾 11 DOGS RESCUED FROM THE MEAT TRADE 🐾
On Saturday, 22 August 2026, 11 dogs rescued from the meat trade were brought to safety. The rescue began when a truck carrying the dogs was stopped and searched by the Zambia Police Service in Kabwe. The Police took prompt action and contacted the Kabwe District Veterinary Office and Kabwe Animal Rescue, the first veterinary and animal welfare organisations on the scene. Sadly, one of the original 12 dogs did not survive.
LAWS is now caring for 3 of the rescued dogs, while our partners are caring for the others.
We would like to sincerely thank the Zambia Police Service, Kabwe District Veterinary Office, Kabwe Animal Rescue, AARC, and Showgrounds Vet Clinic for their collaboration, swift response, and commitment to animal welfare. Together, we were able to give these dogs a second chance at life.

This friendly boy was found in the Showgrounds area weeks ago and was brought safely to the LAWS shelter.

Unfortunately, no one has come forward to claim him, so we are now looking for a loving forever home where he can be safe, loved, and cared for.

He deserves a family who will choose him and give him the second chance he deserves. Could that be you?

🐱 A FOREVER HOME NEEDED FOR THIS SWEET BOY 🐾

This incredibly friendly boy was found wandering around and is currently being fostered by a kind-hearted lady who took him in to keep him safe.

He is affectionate, comfortable around people, and clearly used to being cared for. Because of how friendly and domesticated he is, we suspect he may have been abandoned.

His foster mum has given him a safe place for now, but unfortunately, she cannot keep him forever. We are therefore looking for a loving family who can give this handsome boy the permanent home he deserves.

Some of our dogs have been waiting at the shelter for MORE THAN A YEAR. Some have been here for two years or even longer.

They have so much love to give. They are good dogs, yet they continue to watch other dogs leave while they wait for their turn.

They don't need anything special. They simply need someone willing to give them a second chance at life. A home. A family. Someone who will choose them.

A big thank you to Trackside Learning Studio for visiting the LAWS shelter. It was truly a pleasure having the students with us.

We always love welcoming children to the shelter because while they come to learn from us, we also learn so much from them. Their curiosity, questions, ideas, and the way they see the world are wonderful to listen to.

Thank you also to the Trackside learners for your generous K500 donation towards the shelter. Your kindness will help us continue caring for animals in need.
