Our vision
We live in a society where a convenience culture prevails, where everyone wants everything now, often forgetting that good things take time, effort and love. To create within people a sense of respect for themselves and the world in which they live, love and grow. This can be achieved by fostering hope and love within in ourselves, seeing ourselves as part of our world and environment,

not just in the world but of the world
We need to provide people with hope for their future, love for their world and everything that resides in it. It is with this idea in mind that we established Forest Friends. The creation of the guardians of our world start with each of us
Forest Friends was founded in 2013 by Louis and Nadine Kuys and inspired by nature. We Grow Aquaponically (The future of Farming)

What is Aquaponics? It is the future of farming: A natural process which mimics lakes, ponds and rivers on earth. It is a combination of aquaculture (raising fish or other aquatic animals) and hydroponics (growing fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers without soil). From the fish tanks, fish waste is piped or pumped into hydroponic grow beds where plants or other food crops absorb the nutrients, cleans and purifies the water and returns back to the fish tanks. In a rivers where fish waste products are swept away and replaced with clean water this is what we are achieving in aquaponics a more natural process. We are inspired by nature.

Life in the Vlei!

​We are always excited to spot a Vlei Rat (vlei rot) scurrying through the undergrowth. While some might see them as just another rodent, we see them as a badge of honor for our local ecosystem.

​Why we love them

​Eco-Indicators: Their presence means our soil and water systems are healthy and vibrant.

​Nature’s Buffet: They are a vital food source for majestic predator birds like Owls and Hawks, keeping the natural balance in check.

​Indigenous Pride: These chunky, herbivorous locals belong right here in our South African landscape.

​A healthy farm isn’t just about what we grow it’s about the incredible wildlife that chooses to call it home.

Ons het vandag heerlike beesvleis en groentesop gemaak, propvol vars groente en kruie uit die tuin. Ons het 500ml wegneembakkies beskikbaar teen R65 elk.

We made a delicious beef and vegetable soup today, filled with fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden. We have 500ml takeaway containers available for R65 each.
