Every single day, the calls keep coming…
Abandoned puppies.
Injured animals.
Neglected pets needing urgent help.
Animals with no voice depending on us to show up for them.

But while the rescue work never slows down, the reality is becoming harder and harder.

The rising fuel costs are crippling rescue organisations like ours.
Every rescue, every vet run, every food collection, every home check and every trip to help an animal in need depends on fuel.

And without it, we simply cannot reach them.

We are doing everything we can to continue helping the community and the animals that rely on us daily, but the costs are overwhelming.
There are never enough hours in the day, enough hands to help, or enough fuel in the tank.

Yet the emergencies never stop.

Wild tortoises belong in the wild.

Every year, indigenous tortoises are removed from their natural habitats, relocated, kept as pets, painted, marked, chained, or unnecessarily “rescued” by well-meaning people. Unfortunately, these actions can cause immense stress, injury, disorientation and even death.

🆘BEWARE GRAPHIC DETAILS 🆘

Today was just another day where we had to step in and do rescue work for the community… because when animals suffer, we cannot simply turn away.

Wh**ey was hit by a car. 💔

The first treatment he received was simply a bandage placed over the wound, with instructions for it to be removed a week later. But a week later, the injury is far worse.

Now he needs urgent medical care again… and his owners do not have another R3000 for treatment.

This is the reality of rescue.People call us when there is nowhere else to turn.And somehow, we always try to help — even when our own resources are stretched beyond limit.

We are already carrying enormous veterinary costs, feeding costs, fuel costs and the daily care of hundreds of rescued animals at the Rescue Centre.

But we cannot ignore suffering.

We are exhausted.
But we will continue being a voice for the voiceless.

People often think rescue work only means picking animals up.

But rescue never ends after the animal is saved.

Not only do we do rescue work — we take care of them ourselves at the Rescue Centre too. Every single day.

We feed them.
We clean kennels and catteries.
We medicate the sick and injured.
We rush emergencies to the vet.
We comfort the abused.
We rehabilitate the neglected.
We bottle-feed babies.
We spend sleepless nights monitoring critical cases.
We fight for animals that many people gave up on.

And we do all of this solely through donations.

The emotional, physical and financial costs are enormous and draining, but the animals still need us… so we keep going.

Please remember:
We do not have government funding.
We do not have unlimited resources.
And sadly, we also cannot drive on fumes with the fuel prices so ridiculously high!!

Every cent donated goes directly back into the care of abandoned, abused and neglected animals at PurrPaws For Life.
