I have yet to encouter a breed that Italians don’t co-inhabit with well.
We do strict vetting when there are siblings involved as well, to try and ensure that the circumstances are favourable… 😉🐾

I am so grateful and blessed to enter a new decade! 30’s was a challenge BUT my greatest endevour was taking the courage to start our kennel - I still can’t believe I actually did it! One of the most challenging and rewarding ones…may the new decade bring many more gorgeous pups and growth for us 🐾🙏🏻

This week has been a difficult one, so much to process and ponder on : the future of our breed, the ethics around breeding, breeding plans, vetting to ensure our beautiful pups gets the suitable homes. What triggered the above: an advertisement from a pet shop having IG’s for sale. The wind was blown out of my sails 😔.
Besides contacting various organisations, venting to our reputable breeder friends the one conclusion made was to educate… We have such a limited genepool in SA and with every mating so much time and planning goes into it to ensure we do the best we can to breed Italians that are healthy, in line with the breed standard and so much more.
What hit me most - is this what our breed have come to, just another one of the many breeds sold in petshops? Our amazing breed deserves more!
Well, as LOVASA Italian Greyhounds we will never lower our standards! If you want a cheap Italian Greyhound - then go and support the backyard breeder.
We honestly hope you won’t though 🐾

As our 2025 breeding plan comes to an end we are grateful with all the companions we were privilaged to bless families with.
Grateful for all the friendships made.

Our hearts are full, and we are excited for our 2026 planning…
