🐦❤️ A RESCUE THAT TOUCHED OUR HEARTS

Not every rescue has the ending we hope for, but every life deserves all our effort.

A juvenile Starling found himself in a desperate situation at the Southcoast Mall Food Court, with his little foot entangled in string, suspended from an immensely high ceiling.

Mike Davis, Society Manager and Inspector from the Lower South Coast SPCA spent hours trying to find suitable equipment that could reach the little bird. Knowing that time was precious, Mike contacted Brett Robins from Industrial Supplies, who immediately sprang into action to help source a cherry picker which was kindly sponsored by Bendigo Electrical to make the rescue possible.
Sadly, despite everyone's efforts, the little Starling did not make it. 💔

Although the outcome was heartbreaking, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Mike for his determination and compassion, and to Bendigo Electrical and Brett Robins, Shailen and Mlu from Industrial Supplies for their willingness to assist without hesitation.

It is never easy when a rescue does not have the ending we fight for, but this little bird was not ignored. People stopped, cared, and did everything they could to help him.
Because every life matters, no matter how small. 🐦

Thank you to everyone who was willing to help give this little life a chance. ❤️

🐾 Youth Making a Difference at the Lower South Coast SPCA 🐾

For the past three Saturdays, we have had the privilege of welcoming a wonderful group of scholars to the Lower South Coast SPCA as part of their Community Service.

A massive shout out and what an absolute pleasure it has been having the learners from Southcity Christian College, Creston College and the Port Shepstone High Interact Club! 💙

They have worked hard, shown respect and responsibility, and brought such positive energy with them each Saturday. From getting stuck into the work to spending time helping care for the animals, they have shown that making a difference starts with simply being willing to give your time and effort.

Community service is about so much more than completing hours. It teaches our youth the importance of working together, working with others, showing kindness, taking responsibility, and giving back to the community. When young people come together with a common purpose, incredible things can happen. 🌱🐾

To these scholars — thank you for your hard work, your respectful attitude and the wonderful energy you brought to our SPCA. We are incredibly proud to have had you with us! ✨️

Never underestimate what a group of young people can achieve when they choose to work together for the good of others. ❤️

🐾 Reaching Rural Communities – Sterilisation Drive Success! ❤️

🎉 Our recent Dog Sterilisation Drive held on Saturday, 15th August was an absolute success

🐶 68 dogs - a total of 44 female dogs and 24 male dogs were sterilised, given treatment and a Rabies Vaccination 🐶

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to assist with sterilisation services for the rural communities, where access to veterinary services can often be limited.

Every dog sterilised means fewer unwanted litters, fewer animals at risk, and a brighter future for the next generation of dogs. 🐕❤️

✨ ️A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who supported and was involved in this initiative ✨️

This would not have been possible without Friends of K9 Trust NPO 221-862 & Lea Kassner, our in-house Vet Dr. Didier, assisting Vet's, Dr Logeshni, Dr Hannah and Dr Robyn and their Team of Technicians, and last but not least - to our incredible staff at the LSC SPCA! 🎉

🥪 We would also like to thank Suren and Big Fresh Marburg for keeping all involved on the day fed 🤗

Together, we are making a real difference — one dog, one family and one community at a time. 🐾

🕊 A beautiful tribute to beloved Kavi Naicker from Uncle Gonam Raju residing in Canada ~

When one has lived for over 80 years, your life is shaped and reshaped by people who leave their imprints on your soul.

My life of over 8 decades was brighter, enriched and blessed by someone who stayed in my heart for 4 of those decades.

He left this earth some years ago but his positive influence is evident every day I walk this earth.

Kavidhan Kareshan, today I remember the day you were born.

Exactly 8 years later, you spent 8 August 88 with me in Canada.

I will never forget 20 June 2013 when your love for me was so evident.

You chose to love me when many deserted me.

Loyal.
Faithful.
Consistent.

That day I learned what true love looked like.

The years, months and days that followed saw our relationship grow deeper.

Then that final goodbye.

"Just wait, Uncle Joe."

You ran into your house and returned with your gray jacket as a gift.

I cherish that memory.

So, dearest son and grandson, our final encounter is not really final.

I carry you in my heart.

Thank you for these precious memories.

Today I am privileged to be with your Mummy and Papa and your cousins Josiah and Moses as we honour your memory by helping some of your animal friends enjoy a meal - exactly the way you would want your birthday celebrated.

❤️ Forever in our hearts, precious Kavi. ❤️
