It's a double celebration at EberVet today! 🎉🐾

Not only are we wishing Michelle a very happy birthday, but we're also giving her a warm welcome to the EberVet family! ❤️💙

Michelle joins us from a background in finance and administration, bringing with her a caring nature, an organised mind and a lifelong love for animals!

With a passion for the outdoors and a willingness to embrace new challenges, she's excited to begin her journey in veterinary care, learn something new every day and get to know our wonderful team, clients and, of course, all the lovely pets who come through our doors! 🐶🐱

When she's not at the clinic, you'll find her enjoying the outdoors, spending time with animals and making the most of life's little adventures.

Michelle, we're so happy to have you joining the team, and we wish you a fantastic birthday and many exciting adventures ahead! 🎂

Our annual Heritage Day Spay Day is an opportunity for us to give back to our community and make a meaningful difference for animals in need. 🐾

On 24 September, our team successfully sterilised 50 animals in one day: 20 dogs and 30 cats. Dr Esmaré van der Walt, Dr Bennie Grobler and Dr Stephanie Oberholzer worked together to make it possible.

The care went beyond sterilisation too. 🐶 Every dog received a 5-in-1 and rabies vaccination, as well as treatment for ticks, fleas and mange. 🐱 Every cat received a 3-in-1 and rabies vaccination, and every animal went home with food and a blanket.

The day was made possible through the CAWF Mayoral Fund Sterilisation Campaign 2026, which enabled 100 sterilisations in total, with 50 animals sterilised at Country Animal Clinic on 9 August and another 50 with us at EberVet Pet Clinic on Heritage Day.

A huge thank you to Sweet Paws and Farm Paws for handling the sign-ups, identifying animals in need, collecting them and making sure they returned home safely afterwards.

We are also incredibly grateful to Lions Square Vetshop for fundraising to feed our volunteers, Ultra Pet for the donation of Opti Woof dog food, Kwikspar Somerset Lions Square for supplying bottled water, and Country Animal Clinic for donating their remaining Spay Day funds towards our SOS Fund.

And finally, thank you to every volunteer who gave their time, energy and care. We couldn't have done it without you.

50 animals sterilised. One very special Heritage Day. A whole community coming together for animals in need.

🐾 Stronger Together against rabies.

This World Rabies Day, EberVet Pet Clinic is joining the call to protect our pets, our families and our communities through awareness, responsible pet ownership and vaccination.

Rabies is preventable, and keeping dogs and cats vaccinated against rabies is an important part of protecting both animal and human health.

Every vaccination contributes to a stronger line of protection. When pet owners, veterinary teams, healthcare professionals and communities work together, we are stronger together against rabies.

WEATHER OUTLOOK | 21–27 SEPTEMBER 2026

Rain and unsettled weather are possible in the Helderberg and Stellenbosch areas this week. Some forecasts suggest wetter conditions from Friday 25 September into the weekend, particularly on Saturday 26 September. Forecasts may change, so please follow official weather updates for your area.

Help your pets feel safe and secure:

🐾 Bring them indoors and give them a calm, dry space.
🐾 Check that gates and fences are secure, and that identification details are up to date.
🐾 Keep them close and reassure them if the weather becomes noisy.
🐾 If your pet struggles with storms, contact your preferred veterinary practice for advice about calming medication.

For an after-hours veterinary emergency in the Helderberg area, call your nearest practice to be diverted to the clinic on call, or call 021 851 1500 for the vet on call.

Keep them safe. Keep them close. ❤️💙

🐾 Happy National AHT Day! 🐾

Today we’re celebrating our amazing Animal Health Technician, René!

Being an AHT is so much more than wearing scrubs and looking after patients. You’re the calm in the chaos, the extra pair of hands when things get crazy, the one giving cuddles when our patients are scared, and somehow managing to keep everything moving when the consulting rooms resemble a small-scale disaster zone!

From assisting with procedures and monitoring anaesthesia, to cleaning, caring, comforting, educating clients and doing all the behind-the-scenes jobs that nobody sees — you do it all.

Thank you for your dedication, your patience, your hard work and, most importantly, for the love and compassion you show every single one of our patients.

Our vets simply couldn’t do what they do without you, and our patients are incredibly lucky to have you caring for them.

Happy National AHT Day! We appreciate you more than you know!

Happy Birthday, Dr Esmaré van der Walt!

Today we celebrate the wonderful veterinarian who gives so much of her heart, knowledge and compassion to every patient that comes through our doors.

Thank you, Dr Esmaré, for your dedication to our furry patients, your kindness towards their owners, and for always going the extra mile to make a difference. We are incredibly grateful to have you as the leader of the Pet Clinic team!

May your birthday be filled with lots of love, laughter, spoils and, of course, plenty of wagging tails and happy purrs!

Wishing you a very happy birthday and an amazing year ahead.❤️

With love from your practice family!
