Nestled in the mountains is the most remarkable sanctuary, for dogs who have lost their families or have been rescued from dire situations. Every day the dedicated team at Dogtown provide individual care to each of these dogs in a peaceful, tranquil setting while they wait for their forever homes. There is often a misconception that all rescue dogs are going to be damaged in some way, but that’s simply not true. There are plenty of wonderful dogs at Dogtown SA, who through no fault of their own have found themselves homeless and are just hoping for a second chance at a new life in a loving home. These special need dogs require professional care. At Dogtown we have a dedicated rehabilitation area where our full time qualified trainers and behaviourists work tirelessly each day, improving the lives of these misunderstood dogs. Often being their last glimmer of hope to become well-adjusted dogs who can live full and happy lives. Our retirement village provides a safe and loving environment for the more mature residents who often require special medical care and are sadly dumped at animal shelters when they become too much trouble. Every year thousands of precious dogs lose their homes and their lives. With your help, we can SAVE more lives and provide the best care for the abandoned and abused, while we search for loving families that will give them their happy ever after. We aim to offer a lifelong commitment to the dogs that come into our care and a lifetime of support to their new families.

A Huge Thank You to the Team at Zwartkop Animal Clinic ❤️

To celebrate World Rabies Day, the incredible team from Zwartkop Vet Clinic ensured that every one of our dogs received their much-needed rabies vaccination. 🐶

We are so grateful not only for this generous contribution to the health and wellbeing of our dogs, but also for the kindness shown throughout the day. The team was incredibly gentle, patient, and loving with each and every dog, making what could have been a stressful experience so much easier for our rescues.

Thank you for helping us keep our dogs safe, healthy, and protected, and for treating them with such care and compassion. We appreciate you more than words can say! ❤️

MEET MERCY ❤️ Waiting Since 2018
📍Dogtown - Gauteng

Eight years.

That’s how long Mercy has been waiting for someone to choose her.

This beautiful 10-year-old Terrier blend arrived at Dogtown back in 2018, and while she has touched the hearts of everyone she meets, her forever family has never come.

Mercy is the definition of a gentle soul. She has a kind heart, a sweet nature, and a smile that can brighten even the toughest day. She loves spending time with people and greets visitors with warmth and quiet confidence, making friends wherever she goes.

She enjoys her walks, strolls beautifully on lead, and still loves learning new things, especially when treats are involved! Her eagerness to please and calm, affectionate nature make her a wonderful companion.

Now in her golden years, Mercy isn't asking for much. She dreams of a soft bed, loving hands to stroke her greying face, and a family who will cherish her for the incredible dog she is.

After waiting since 2018, don't you think it's finally Mercy's turn? ❤️

If you're looking for a loyal friend to share life's quieter moments with, Mercy is waiting patiently to meet you.
