So our Saturday was a lot!
Our advanced class headed to the annual Vallei Partei at our usual class venue to work through being at a really busy market, people, loud music and food and some animals they don't encounter every day, a pony, sheep, chickens etc.
The biggest part of this lesson is teaching the humans how to help and manage their dogs in situations like this. How to advocate for your dogs training, how to find relax and decompression zones and how to give more than enough time to relax in the beginning of an outing to help the rest of your outing be calmer.
Overall, the humans and pups did well! But it was a lot😂

More examples of healthy play.
First example, two boys, around a year old, meeting for the first time and definitely getting on well!
Second example, a group of around 5 month olds playing.
In both examples, the dogs are getting along great because they've got similar extroverted personalities and play styles. We try our best to match dogs up so that it sets them up for success in the play arenas!

I'm going to be blunt. Your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part. I have had numerous people messaging me saying the *need* to start class tomorrow, or that weekend as their puppies are usually about 16 weeks old and they've been told they must start socializing before that age. It somehow becomes my problem to try and fit them in, but I hate to tell you, it's not how we do things. We are incredibly lucky to be a busy and big dog school, but that also means we get full really quickly, and we will prioritize the people who planned in advance to get their puppy a spot. We have had people make sure their puppy gets a spot by 9/10 weeks old by enrolling them at 4-6 weeks old before they even get their puppy. We understand that not everyone has that luxury, but then please be understanding when there is a wait time for class start dates.
