Starting training, a few days after arrival, is vital for new puppies. They learn early focus, have mental simulation, and sets them up for success.

All too often, I get calls from people with puppies from the age of about seven months old, who are experiencing problems with their pups. Unruly behaviour, fear, aggression, not being able to walk on the lead, etc. It is vitally important to start training and exposing your puppy (from eight weeks) to different environments, other dogs, cats, people, kids, cars, bicycles, and the list goes on.
There is always the debate about taking your pup out before they have had all their inoculations, but if you are careful where you take them to, and even carry them to the shops and outings, the pros far outweigh the cons. I have always socialized my pups from eight weeks old, and have never experienced any adverse reactions. Instead, it bodes for a well rounded, confident dog.
The first 16 weeks of your pups life is the most important time for them to be exposed to as many different stimuli as possible.
Short outings to begin with, and to leash train, also remember to keep it short, extending the time, as they get older.
Good luck, pup owners, and remember, common sense is key, in exposing your pup to the outside world.

Puppies are hard work. There are no short cuts in getting the best out of them. It takes commitment and dedication, getting them to be the adults you want. Training, mental stimulating, exercise and play are extremely important, and a great way to form a lasting bond with them.

How NOT to walk your dogs. Funny video, but this can become quite tiresome.

Having a new puppy has its own challenges. Doing potty patrol, teaching them House rules, and getting them into a routine. Consistency is absolutely key, and not giving up. They will get it, and reward you in abundance, and become the dogs you want.

This message is for all the k9 owners. Love and cherish your dogs, every single day. Spend time with them. Have fun with them. Go on outings with them. Get the best out of them, through training and mental simulation. Their time with us is so short. And, sometimes, it can be taken suddenly, and tragically. They are a blessing to us. Enjoy every second you have with them.

Cute as a button, and learning focus technique. Doing great at her obedience training.
