AACL PE INSPECTORS AT WORK

Many people are unaware that Animal Anti-Cruelty League Inspectors conduct routine inspections at abattoirs to help ensure animals are treated humanely throughout the process.

During these inspections, our Inspectors monitor:

- Humane transportation of animals
- Proper handling and unloading procedures
- Suitable holding facilities, including access to water where
required
- Animal welfare standards before slaughter
- Compliance with humane slaughter regulations

Our role is to promote and monitor animal welfare, ensuring that unnecessary suffering is prevented and that legal welfare standards are upheld.

Animal welfare extends beyond companion animals. Every animal deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

Protecting animals through education, monitoring, and enforcement.

TOO MANY CATS. TOO FEW HOMES.

Every day, animal welfare organisations, rescuers and caregivers are faced with the same heartbreaking reality: there are simply too many kittens being born and not enough homes for them.

The number of unsterilised cats has reached a crisis point. Shelters are overwhelmed, rescue spaces are full, and resources to assist feral colonies are stretched beyond their limits.

Many people believe that finding homes for kittens will be easy, but the truth is that thousands of unwanted kittens are born every year. Many face lives of hunger, disease, injury and suffering.

This is not a problem that animal welfare organisations can solve alone.

The solution starts with responsible pet ownership.

✔ Sterilise your female cats before they have a litter.
✔ Sterilise your male cats to prevent unwanted breeding.
✔ Encourage friends, family and neighbours to do the same.
✔ Support sterilisation programmes in your community.

Every cat sterilised today helps prevent countless kittens from being born into a life of uncertainty and hardship tomorrow.

Please don't wait until there are kittens. Prevention is always kinder than rescue.

Be responsible.
Sterilise your cats.
Help reduce suffering.

Together, we can make a difference.

COMMON SENSE SAVES LIVES AND PREVENTS SERIOUS INJURIES

A HIGH-RISK COMBINATION the majority of dog attacks could be avoided.
Unsterilised male & female dogs:

Especially when a female in the neighbourhood or home is in heat.

🐾 Serious dog fights

🐾 Escape attempts & roaming

🐾 Stress, frustration & anxiety

🐾 Increased aggression

🐾 Injury risks to dogs and owners

A female in heat can trigger intense hormonal behaviours that make management difficult and dangerous.

Tortoise belong in the wild.
Please leave them be in the wild where you find them, DON'T CHAIN them, PAINT their shells or keep them as a pet.

Moving them to different areas is extremely harmful, a slight change in the atmospheric pressure from one region to another can be detrimental to them.

Tortoises have completely fused ribcages, meaning they lack a diaphragm and cannot expand their chests to breathe like mammals.

Why Pressure Fluctuations Matter
No Coughing: Because both inhalation and exhalation require constant, active muscle work and they lack a diaphragm, tortoises cannot cough. If they develop an upper respiratory infection, mucus builds up easily and is very difficult for them to clear.

Positional Breathing Issues: If a tortoise flips onto its back (a supine position), its internal organs shift downward, making it very hard for them to push air out. Extended periods upside down can cause significant stress on their lung mechanics and blood-gas status.
