Paws For Thought

Paws For Thought Suppliers of quality pet foods and products Being from a farming background I have been around animals, particularly dogs, my entire life.

My dogs have always been working dogs so it's only natural that I looked for the best foods available to ensure that they would be at their peak performance and condition at all times. Faced with so many sub-standard choices on the market, I researched the dog food industry and found a product range that ticked all my boxes.

A nation is judged on how they treat their animals. Very true statement so lets make 2013 a real "pet-loving" year

Summer is on its way and time to start tackling those pesky fleas now before they become a problem. Make sure you are giving your dog a regular dip and use flea control (orally). Not only will he be a happier dog but you will be dishing out more hugs to him!!

Was anybody watching Carte Blance on Sunday - the story about the woman who is looking after all those dogs? OMG, over a 1000 dogs! I'm sure her heart is in the right place but it is next to impossible to give each and every dog individual attention - something a dog really needs. I have 5 dogs and some days I know that I battle to find time to spend with them properly. Treasure those times with your dog - there is no other living creature on earth who will love you so UNCONDITIONALLY.

Is anybody having a hard time trying to keep their dog's fleas under control? With all this hot/cold/hot weather - its making it very difficult to keep your dog flea-free. My suggestion is dip your dog monthly with a good, recognised dip AS WELL as give your dog flea control tablets so that it works from both the inside and out. Also, all those old-wives tales do sometimes work and one that works for sure is a big teaspoon of crushed garlic in your dogs food will make all the different. If you give your dog dry pellets only, try and give your dog a garlic clove or two wrapped in cold meat or in liver spead daily. The garlic definately makes the blood of your dog very distasteful to fleas. If you have sandy patches at home, this will let the fleas breed so throw coarse salt onto these sandy patches and that helps with flea control as well. Good luck cos these little blighters are a pain to get rid of during the summer!!!

My old man, Hobby, who is now pushing 98 dog-years in age, is going downhill pretty fast now. He is still eating well, wagging his tail and always greets me when I get home but his breathiing is not fantastic now. I know I am going to have to make a painful decision soon but how do you say 'good-bye' to such a loyal, loving friend. How do you say 'good-bye' to a dog that has protected me and my family his whole life? uuuuuggggghhhh, such a crappy thing to have to do.

Watched my dog, Snoopy, "running" in his sleep yesterday. OMG, it was so funny. It was combined with little grunts and a tongue lolling out of his mouth. I would give any thing to know what he was dreaming about. Needless to say, when he woke up - he looked suitable embarrassed!! ha ha. You have got to love these hounds of ours!!!

2012 is going to be a good year. A year for connecting with our pets - taking our dogs for longer walks, sittiing and meditating with our cats for no other reason, other than just being with them - 2012 is going to be a good year!!!

Did you know statistics reveal that more than 50% of all pet owners would rather be stranded on a desert island with their pet, not another person? Pets really give us so much ♥

All I Need to Know about Life I Learned from My Dog :

- If you stare at someone long enough, eventually you'll get what you want.
- If at first you don't succeed, beg.
- Don't go out without I.D.
- Be direct with people; let them know exactly how you feel by peeing on their shoes.
- Be aware of when to hold your tongue, and when to use it.
- Leave room in your schedule for a good nap.
- Always give people a friendly greeting.
- When you do something wrong, always take responsibility for it (as soon as you're dragged out from under the bed).
- If it's not wet and sloppy, it's not a real kiss.
