"I have never had an issue giving my dogs bones"... a sentence every vet hears multiple times a month. Well, as vets, we see ALL the cases where feeding bones actually causes issues. That really shifts your view.
In the above case, the owner did not feed their dog bones, but the dog got hold of table scraps on a walk, without the owner realising. Only when the dog's breath started smelling really bad (probably days to weeks later), we discovered this rib bone stuck accross the hard pallet, wedged in between teeth.
If you do feed bones, even occasionally, please reconsider!
