Today we say goodbye to a valued member of the Lucky Houdalakis Racing family.
Vic Moore, our long-time Assistant Trainer, passed away peacefully after a brave battle with cancer. Over the past year his health declined quickly, but Vic faced it with the same quiet strength and determination that defined his life.
Vic was part of our team for the past 12 years and was the definition of reliable. A true horseman and an old-school professional, he very rarely missed a day’s work unless he was truly “man down” or in hospital. Horses were his life, and he cared deeply for every one of them.
Originally from Zimbabwe, Vic rode as a jockey and later trained before joining our team. In many ways he was cut from the same cloth as the old racing men – quiet, steady, and completely dedicated to the job.
Outside the stables, Vic adored his family. He was incredibly proud of his daughter Kerry, his son Rory, his grandchildren, and of course Chase, who he loved cheering home whenever he raced. In his downtime you would often find him playing a bit of online poker.
Vic may have been a quiet man, but he was an integral part of our yard and will be deeply missed by everyone who worked alongside him.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones.
Rest easy, Vic. Thank you for everything you gave to the horses and to our team.
