Maintenance & Workshop Manager

Assistant manager position description
New Wycombe is a working game ranch in the Marble Hall area specializing in game breeding for the stud and hunting market, local and foreign hunting and crop production under irrigation. We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated farm maintenance manager to join our team. The positions responsibilities will include maintenance and repairs of facilities, maintenance and creation of farm infrastructure, maintenance and general repairs of vehicles / equipment as well as workshop management. All staff members are part of a team and are expected to participate in all aspects of management on New Wycombe.
Primary responsibilities
• Workshop management: Take responsibility for the maintenance and control of the farm workshop and its contents.
• Infrastructure projects: Assist with planning and ex*****on of infrastructure projects such as solar and borehole installations, boma construction, gate and gate motor installations etc. An advanced level of welding capability and general project ex*****on experience is preferable.
• Maintenance of vehicles: Perform general maintenance on all farm vehicles and equipment and oversee the routine care of equipment such as generators and firefighters.
• Maintenance of buildings and facilities: General maintenance of farm buildings, including plumbing, electrical systems, solar and water systems.
• Maintenance of farm infrastructure: General maintenance of roads, fences, gates, bomas, pumps and boreholes.
• Take responsibility for the organisation and supervision of farm laborers on a daily basis as required.
• Report directly to and communicate with the general manager on a daily basis.
Secondary responsibilities may include assistance with and participation in all aspects of the farming operation as required, including:
• Game breeding operations
• Hunting related operations
Qualifications / Experience required
• Experience: At least 5-10 years experience in mechanical maintenance in a farming environment.
• Technical skills: Proficiency in welding, diesel/petrol mechanics, fencing, solar systems, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Mechanical: A qualification in a mechanical field will be beneficial.
• Drivers license: Valid drivers license with a minimum of Code EC drivers license is required.

• Work as part of a team as all staff are expected to be available at all times for emergencies such as fires, breakdowns of the pivot or water systems, breakdowns in power or electric fence systems, and game emergencies.
