"MINI" STERILISATION CLINIC NR 2 OF 2026 – 3 JUNE 2026
The Lucky Lucy Foundation in conjunction with Bergzicht Dierehospitaal, Malmesbury
Sometimes the most important things happen with very little notice, a lot of determination and people with hearts big enough to say "yes" when it matters most.
Over the past few weeks, we received an overwhelming number of requests from community members needing assistance to have their cats sterilised. As the requests continued to grow, we knew that waiting was simply not an option. Every day that passes can mean another unwanted litter, another cycle of suffering and more animals entering a world already struggling to care for them.
With time working against us and our schedules already stretched to capacity, we approached our incredible veterinary team at Bergzicht Dierehospitaal with a hopeful request: would they be willing to accommodate a special morning sterilisation session for us? Without hesitation, Dr Maryke said yes.
Within just five days, a plan was put into action to ensure that the most critical cases could receive the help they desperately needed.
Wednesday morning started long before sunrise. Carriers, transport arrangements, confirmations and checklists all had to come together to ensure that every community cat booked for sterilisation was safely at the clinic before our veterinary team arrived.
And once again, what seemed almost impossible became possible.
This "mini" clinic may have been smaller in size, but its impact will be felt for years to come. Every cat sterilised represents countless future kittens that will never have to face hunger, disease, neglect, abandonment or life on the streets.

(1) Spay of Female Cats – 11

(3) Flea treatments administered - 7
TOTAL CATS STERILISED = 23
Sterilisation remains one of the most powerful tools available to us in addressing the overpopulation crisis facing companion animals. It is not simply a veterinary procedure, it is an act of compassion, responsibility and prevention.
We often speak about rescuing animals already suffering, but the reality is that preventing suffering before it starts is equally important. Every sterilisation performed is a step toward a future where fewer animals are born only to struggle for survival.
A heartfelt thank you goes to:
🙏 Dr Maryke, Dr Anja and Mariaan from Bergzicht Dierehospitaal for once again opening your doors and your hearts to support this vital initiative.
🙏 Every family and community caregiver who made the decision to sterilise their cats and who entrusted us with their beloved animals.
🙏 Our donors, supporters and volunteers whose generosity makes clinics like these possible. Your support continues to create real and lasting change in the lives of animals who cannot speak for themselves.
There are days when it feels as though there are simply not enough hours in the day to meet every need. Yet time and time again, when compassionate people come together with a shared purpose, remarkable things happen. This was one of those days.
Together, one sterilisation at a time, we continue building a future with less suffering, fewer unwanted litters and more hope.
TOGETHER WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
