Meet Charlie the African Grey 🦜✨

Charlie came in for his avian groom with Dr. Jackie - a beak file, wing trim and nail clip. Looking handsome and feeling fresh! 💅🪶

While visiting, Charlie decided to supervise the reception team by marching up and down the front counter like he owned the practice. Clearly management material… 😅

Unfortunately, his owner informed us that Charlie can’t officially work at reception because he apparently swears a little too much. 🙈😂

African Greys are incredibly intelligent birds with huge personalities — and Charlie definitely kept us entertained! 💚

The cruelty shown in this post is beyond devastating, and no innocent animal should ever have to suffer like this.

This is a must-read. Please educate your children about kindness, compassion, and the responsibility we have toward animals. Cruelty should never be ignored, excused, or normalised.

We are excited to announce that RHDV (Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus) vaccines will soon be available at our practice.

RHDV is a highly contagious and often fatal disease in rabbits, and even indoor bunnies can be at risk. Vaccination is the best way to protect your rabbit.

The vaccination appointment includes:
✔️ A full health check
✔️ RHDV vaccination

Please note that this is a Section 21 vaccine and may only be administered by a registered veterinarian.

Yes! A long-legged, one-eyed Maltese named Milo 🐶 and a chocolate dapple Dachshund called Peanut—named by my kids because “she pees herself”! 😄

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Spending time with my family—my husband Willie, twin boys Matthew & Zane (13), stepkids Wian (20) & Liescha (17), and our newest little addition, Mianetjie (2). 💛

What do you love most about working with exotic/small animals?
Animals show such compassion, and I love being able to give that same compassion back to them. 🐾

What inspired you to work in veterinary care?
Ever since I can remember, I’ve wanted to work with animals. Working in veterinary care has always been my dream job. 💛

Do you have any pets?
I have two Dorkies (Dachshund x Yorkie) named Tienkie and Bella, and their favourite snack is baby carrots 🥕 I also have three rats — Missy, Mildred, and Gus — and they’re absolute foodies!

Beach or bush?
Beach 🌊

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy watching series and going window shopping.

What do you love most about working with exotics/small animals?
They’re incredibly fascinating and I love the variety of different species we get to work with every day. 🐾

Meant to post this morning, but it has been a crazy day back for Dr Jackie today after being on leave last week

Today 9 months ago we opened our doors for the first time, and it has been a crazy ride.
It hasn't always been easy, but we want to thank each and every one of you for trusting us, and allowing us to care for your babies. Do we always get everything right? No, we are only human, but know that we take care of every patient as if they were our own.There has been changes, some difficult and some easy, but they were all made with our patients and clients in mind. No egos. Here is to walking the next 9 months with you.
