So after being away from the Upper Highway area for quite some time, I will be re-establishing an Animal Physiotherapy department at Medivet in Hillcrest🥳🥳🥳 I am thrilled to be back in the area and excited about being part of the wonderful Medivet team. Dr Deana is also qualified in Accupunture which is going to be very beneficial to all my physio patients. Watch this space. I will keep you posted and let you know when we are up and running.🤗🤗🤗 MediVet Hillcrest

Hi All. As most of you know, I closed my business down a month ago due to personal reasons and joined the Kloof And Highway SPCA as Manager of their clinic. I miss my physio patients terribly but I am lucky enough to still be helping animals but through a different channel. Every year the SPCA has an annual Dog Box Challenge where we are locked inside a kennel for 24hrs or until we can raise our bail money of R10 000. We have decided to allocate the funds we raise to heating our outside hospital runs in an attempt to make our hospital patients more comfortable and pain free this winter. I have a passion for arthritic animals as you know, and keeping them warm has always been a priority for me so I am very very excited about this! Please please can you help us by contributing towards our bail money so we can keep our patients warm this winter! We have anything from 20 to 30 patients in hospital at 1 time and we unfortunately just do not have the space to keep them all inside. I cannot tell how much this will mean to us. Thank you so much for your support.

This is Beau. He has had a bit of a rough few weeks. He had spinal surgery at Onderstepoort about a month ago on his neck and is learning how to walk again on all 4 limbs. He has made a remarkable recovery though and comes for rehab twice a week. He is getting stronger every week.

Sebastian with his leg weights on. He has severe hip dysplasia and because of his size, it is really important we strengthen the muscles surrounding the hip joints.

This is Maverick. He is struggling with hip dysplasia at the moment. I'm am really hoping we can get him to build some muscle on his hind limbs and pelvis and hopefully avoid having to have surgery. He is only 4yrs old so he has his while life ahead of him. He was diagnosed with HD at only 10months of age. Such a sweet boy.

Something a bit off topic. I come across a few people who feed bones and find myself getting into lengthy debates on why it is a very bad idea. Here is a dog we saw not long ago in the township that had to have this bone surgically removed. Please guys. Dogs are domesticated animals. They are not wild. They cannot be compared to wolves. Just don't do it.

Malibu doing some hind limb strengthening with the theraband. She is doing incredibly well after having both cruciate ligaments rupture in her knees. She had the TTA procedure to stabilise both knee joints.

This little sausage is a near walking miracle. She came to see me about 2months ago with a herniated disc in her spine. She couldn't walk or get up at all on her own, her reflexes on her left leg were completely absent. She only had a bit of feeling in her right hind. We set her up in a harness and did some gentle weight bearing and strengthening exercises. She can now get up on her own and take 3 steps! Surgery was not an option at the time due to cost constraints. She has surprised us all and I am thrilled that she is doing so well!

Darcy came to see me this week. He is a 6yr old lab that used to be a guide dog. Due to his arthritic elbows he had to retire from his job and now lives the life on a farm in the midlands. He had surgery on both elbows a while ago and now has an arthritic knee with a partial tear of his cruciate ligament. I am really hoping some rehab will help him out as he is very uncomfortable. He has also been put onto a very strict diet so he can lose some weight as well.

Did someone say swim?! China making his way to the pool with no guidance whatsoever! Bearing in mind he has only had one hydro session so far! He is doing great! Another cm gained in his triceps muscle circumference and a lot more comfortable on that shoulder.
