Craig View Veterinary Clinic, organizers of the annual Easter Egg Charity Challenge, today regretfully announces the issuance of a Warrant of Arrest for Ward Councillor Mary Goby of Benoni.

This action, authorized under special permissions from the local magistrate, stems from the pledge made by Councillor Goby to donate 100 boxes of Easter eggs to support vulnerable children and families in the Ekurhuleni community this holiday season.

Councillor Mary Goby, representing City of Ekurhuleni, is widely known for her tireless advocacy on behalf of residents, particularly in addressing service delivery issues such as electricity outages, water leaks.

As a dedicated Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor, she has earned a reputation as a hardworking and responsive leader, often acting as a direct line of support for her constituents in Benoni.

Her efforts have been praised in local media for contributing to a more functional metro compared to neighboring areas, and she has been instrumental in pushing for improvements in infrastructure and public services.

“We deeply regret having to issue this warrant against such an honest and committed politician,” said Dr. Bull, lead organizer of the Easter Egg Charity Challenge at Craig View Veterinary Clinic. “Councillor Goby’s contributions to the community are invaluable, and it’s with a heavy heart that we take this step.

However, the spirit of the challenge is to hold everyone accountable for their promises—no exceptions—in order to maximize donations for those in need.

Bail for Councillor Goby has been set at 100 boxes of Easter eggs, which must be delivered to Councillor Goby or Craig View Veterinary Clinic (clearly marked MG) no later than March 23, 2026.

Day 8 – Kaizer 🤍

This will be my final update.

We took our boy to the vet today to go to heaven.

He woke up very sore this morning. I gave him soft tinned food for breakfast, and then we got ready to go. The moment he saw his lead, he got so excited. When he saw the car door open, he was even more excited. I had to help him into the car because his legs just didn’t want to cooperate.

We stopped at McDonald’s for a cheeseburger and an ice cream — but they didn’t have ice cream 😪 so he got two cheeseburgers instead. He loved them.

At the vet we weighed him. 28.7kg. He had lost another 2.3kg since last Friday.

Dr Sam was incredible — so gentle and kind. My son and I held him, told him how much we love him and what an amazing boy he has been for the 9 years we had the privilege of caring for him.

He went to heaven peacefully, surrounded by love, at 10:50 this morning.

My heart is shattered into a million pieces. The house is so quiet. I can’t stand being here. I just want my boy back. But I know this was the right decision. Keeping him longer would have been unfair. He was always our first priority.

Thank you to everyone who helped financially — we are so grateful. And to my dear friend who took us to the vet last week and again today… you are so special to me ❤️

Dr Sam will call when we can fetch Kaizer’s ashes.

Day 7 with Kaizer 🤍

Today he slept most of the day. My brave boy only got up once to go outside to the toilet. Even though he is so sore and so tired, he still won’t make a mess in the house. That’s just who he is.

We are waiting on confirmation of the last donation that was promised directly to the vet tonight. Once I receive proof of payment, tomorrow will be 100% confirmed. Tomorrow we will say goodbye. Tomorrow he will finally be free from his pain.

My boy is tired.

He doesn’t know what tomorrow means. He doesn’t know that we will never see him again. And I am completely breaking inside.

I know with everything in me that this is the right thing to do. But there’s a selfish part of me that just wants to keep him here. Just a little longer. So I can rub him. So when I’m hurting, he can still be my comfort. He has been my rock for 9 years.

He leaves behind his brothers Bailey (9) and Bacon (3), and his sister Sophia (11). And then there’s me and my two 2-legged boys who don’t know how we’re supposed to walk into a house that doesn’t have that goofy face waiting at the door.

How do we drive past McDonald’s again without thinking of how much he loved their ice cream?

Tonight I used the last of my money to buy him a big steak. Medium rare, just the way he deserves it. I mixed it with rice and he gobbled it up. I could give his pain meds without worrying because his tummy was full.

Tonight my boy goes to sleep with a full belly.

Tomorrow, before the vet, we will stop one last time for his favourite ice cream. A few final spoils for the best dog in the whole world.

I will never love another dog the way I love Kaizer. 🤍
