Small in stature. Big in detail.

The Steenbok may be one of Africa’s smallest antelope, but bringing one to life in taxidermy requires every bit as much skill, precision, and artistry as the largest trophy.

From the delicate facial features and alert expression to the natural habitat base, every detail of this full-body mount has been carefully crafted to capture the beauty and character of this remarkable little antelope.

A timeless piece that preserves not just the trophy, but the memory of the hunt and the spirit of the African bush.

🐘 Building an Elephant, From the Inside Out

An elephant mount is one of the most challenging projects in taxidermy. Due to its immense size and weight, the mannequin must be specially engineered and built hollow, allowing it to support the heavy hide while remaining practical to transport and install.

Once the elephant skin has been carefully tanned, it is fitted over the custom-built form and meticulously adjusted to recreate every wrinkle, contour, and feature. Any imperfections are expertly filled, textured, and painted by hand to ensure a seamless finish.

The result is far more than a mount—it's a tribute to one of Africa's most iconic animals, requiring countless hours of craftsmanship, precision, and attention to detail.

Behind the scenes in the taxidermy studio 🎥🦌

Every mount starts long before the final display piece. In this stage, damaged areas are carefully rebuilt and filled by hand - a process that takes patience, precision, and an eye for detail.
It’s these unseen hours of craftsmanship that bring a trophy back to life and preserve the memories of the hunt for generations to come.
True taxidermy is as much art as it is science.

Ever wondered why there’s a hairdryer in a taxidermy studio?

Taxidermists use high-powered dryers (often called pet blowers) to bring a specimen back to life after washing. It’s not just about drying—it’s about detail, precision, and realism.

Here’s what’s really happening behind the scenes:
🦌 Fluffing fur & feathers – Restoring natural volume so nothing looks flat or matted
🪶 Grooming & shaping – Guiding hair direction and perfecting facial detail
💧 Faster drying – Speeding up the process after cleaning the hide
🌬 Dust removal – Blowing out debris from hard-to-reach areas
🧼 Safe cleaning – Gently maintaining older mounts without damaging them

Using cool or low heat, combined with careful brushing, ensures the hide stays intact while achieving that lifelike finish.

It might look simple—but this step is where mounts truly come to life.
