⚠️ HAIR SLIP – A HUNTER'S NIGHTMARE

What every hunter should know.

Hair slip occurs when bacteria attack the skin, causing patches of hair to fall out.
And the critical period starts almost immediately after the animal is down.
That's why proper field handling matters.

Some species are particularly susceptible, including waterbuck, gemsbok, klipspringer, black impala and other colour variants, as well as cats, warthog and zebra.

The guide recommends that animals are skinned as soon as possible, with vulnerable areas such as the lips and ears properly fleshed, followed by thorough salting.

The condition of your trophy starts in the field – not at the taxidermist.

Fresh off the veld and salted down, ready for their journey to the taxidermist! 🦌🇿🇦

Every skin, skull, and set of horns tagged and cared for from the moment they leave the field. There's real pride in seeing a hunt's story preserved this way — from the dust of the veld to a mount that'll last a lifetime.

Grateful for the land, the animals, and the memories made out here. Next stop: the taxidermist to bring these trophies to life. 🐾

Your trophy decisions should start BEFORE your safari.

Your African hunting adventure may last a few days or weeks – but your trophies can remain with you for a lifetime.

That’s why it pays to think about your taxidermy requirements before you leave home.

Where will each trophy go?
What type of mount do you want?
How much space do you have?
And do you want your trophies mounted in Africa or back home?

Planning these decisions early can help you avoid unnecessary costs, delays and disappointment later.

Hunt hard. Plan ahead. Bring your memories home.

Every exceptional trophy mount tells a story—but it's the habitat that makes it come alive.

This is where the artistry begins. Our sculptors carefully hand-build each pedestal, shaping natural features like weathered tree trunks, rocks and terrain to recreate the environment your trophy calls home. Every contour, texture and detail is crafted to add depth, realism and character, transforming your mount into a true work of art.

Because a trophy deserves more than a stand—it deserves a scene that captures the spirit of the hunt.

A beautifully sculpted habitat doesn't just display your memories... it brings them back to life.

It all starts with a block of foam.

Before a trophy becomes a lifelike mount, there's a lot of time, patience, and skill that goes into creating the mannequin. Every cut, every curve, and every adjustment is made by hand, carefully shaping the form to match the animal as accurately as possible.

This is one of those parts of taxidermy that most people never get to see, but it's also one of the most important. A well-sculpted mannequin is the foundation of a mount that looks natural and stands the test of time.

We love sharing these behind-the-scenes moments because they show just how much craftsmanship goes into every piece we create.

Take a look at the sculpting process in action.
