🏆 Burlington Graded Show – 23 & 24 May 2026 🏆

A fantastic weekend was had at the Burlington Graded Show, with our riders and horses continuing to build valuable experience and confidence in the competition arena.

✨ Gu and Tybalt had an outstanding show, securing a 1st place and a 5th place in the Adult Junior classes. This partnership continues to go from strength to strength, and they are looking more than ready to step up to their next height soon. Well done on a superb performance!

✨ Annette and Salvador produced four lovely rounds over the two days of competition. This partnership is steadily gaining confidence and experience with every outing, and it is wonderful to see their progress. We look forward to watching them continue their journey and seeing them at their next graded show.

A huge well done to all our riders for a fantastic two weekends of competing despite the icy wind, wintery weather, and plenty of seasonal “spooks” from the horses! Everyone rode with determination and great sportsmanship.

It’s not always about shows or even riding at the yard. Sometimes, it’s about pushing boundaries, challenging ourselves, and simply feeling free.

Earlier in April, RRC took a group of horses out to Inanda Country Base. Some rider and horse combinations were completely new, and for a few horses it was their first time experiencing cross-country.

What stood out most was the atmosphere. There were smiles all day, a few nerves at the start, and a real sense of achievement by the end. Everyone gave it a go, and everyone came away with something.

Days like these remind us why we ride, and why horses are such a big part of our lives. They give us a kind of freedom and connection that’s hard to find anywhere else.

April was a busy month, packed with Easter holidays, festivities, and plenty of time in the ring.

Lauren and Bacardi had an outstanding run at the KPC League, earning an impressive 89% in the Working Hunter and taking first place. Just a few hours later, they were back in action in the medium-level dressage classes, narrowly missing the podium in what was a very competitive field.

After years of dedication and setting clear goals within the showing world, Lauren reached a major milestone. On 16 April 2026, she was awarded the 2025 Novice Rider of the Year by Gauteng Showing. A huge achievement and well deserved. We couldn’t be prouder.

Earlier in the month, the pair also competed in the Champagne Series Show. More than just another outing, it served as valuable preparation for SA Champs later this year. With a first-place finish in their class, it’s safe to say they’re building a strong foundation heading into championships season.

The Easter Festival is always a highlight on our calendar, and this year was no exception. With the show hosted at Kyalami Equestrian Park, it was a huge event and an incredible atmosphere.

We had two RRC riders competing this year.

Lauren and our favourite orange Rivervale’s Bacardi certainly didn’t disappoint over the Dressage and Showing weekend. They placed 4th in Medium Pool 1 and took an impressive 1st in Elite Amateur Pool 2, which is an outstanding achievement. They also put in a strong showing round. No ribbons this time, but the arenas were packed with flags, branding, and crowds, making for a fantastic experience.

Our junior rider Giuliana Lawless, riding Kathleen Allan’s KP Evergreen, had her first taste of a big national show. On days 1 and 2, they produced consistent rounds with 4 penalties each. As the show progressed, the pair really found their rhythm, qualifying for the championship class where they placed 4th out of a very large junior field of 40 riders.

A fantastic effort all around and great representation from our riders.

A big shoutout as well to Hayley and Tabasco, who had a challenging show with an unfortunate elimination. That said, we’re proud of Hayley’s determination to regroup and come back stronger next time.

Well done to all riders for your effort, sportsmanship, and perseverance. On to the next SANESA! 🐎💪

Horse of the Year 2026 was a great show for our team, with two riders representing us in the arenas.

Lauren and her fabulous Orange had an outstanding show with the following results:
• 1st – SASA Handy/Utility Horse
• Champion – SASA Handy/Utility Horse
• Qualified for Supreme Working Riding
• 1st – Novice Adult Working Riding
• 2nd – Strictly Come Showing

Rebecca and Golden Prospect competed in their first graded show. Although they picked up a few penalties, it was still a great result and a big step up into the graded show jumping arena. Well done to both of you.

We’re looking forward to many more graded shows ahead and plenty of big smiles in the arenas.

RRC had a brilliant Saturday, with all our riders and horses finishing in the ribbons this weekend.

Gu and her young horse Tybalt won their junior class with a beautiful dressage test, taking the lead on a fantastic score. Annette and Salvador picked up the pace in cross country and secured an impressive second place in the adult classes, finishing on their dressage score. Lauren and our favourite orange star competed at the KPC League and earned a well-deserved third place in their dressage, stepping proudly onto the podium.

Well done, team. The bar has been set high for the rest of us!
