This month we mark a remarkable milestone: eight consecutive years without a single rhino poaching incident across our 90,000 acres of protected land. This achievement reflects years of innovation, intelligence-led protection, community partnership and tireless dedication from our rangers and conservation teams.

Ol Pejeta remains home to one of the largest populations of eastern black rhinos in East Africa, as well as a healthy population of southern white rhinos. Across Kenya, rhino numbers are rising—a testament to collaboration, effective protection, and the resilience of these species.

We have achieved this through a combination of advanced security measures, including ranger patrols, canine tracking units, and state-of-the-art monitoring systems. Equally vital is our partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service and local communities, ensuring that people and wildlife continue to thrive side by side.

This milestone belongs to everyone who stands with us—the rangers on the ground, the communities living alongside wildlife, our partners, and supporters around the world. Every patrol, every report, every contribution has helped secure a safer future for rhinos.

We invite you to continue walking with us on this journey—by sharing our story, supporting conservation initiatives, or visiting Ol Pejeta to see what your commitment makes possible.

Here’s to the next eight years, and to a future where rhinos roam free, safe and strong.

Thaba is a peace-loving boy who loves his food and spending time out in the bush. He will defend himself in a fight if needed but prefers to be a little more laid-back. He arrived at HESC in 2022 as an orphan after his mother was brutally killed by poachers. 🦏💙

Update on Houdini - 4 months post-surgery

This rhino has definately taken his place amongst the miracle rhinos of Africa and his recovery has been remarkable. Happy and healthy and the major invasive surgery is slowing becoming only a memory. We are grateful every day.

Victoria Update

Amazing news from the juvenile high care unit, Victoria has just had her very first weigh-in! She has come such a long way since her rescue in June. The care team has been working relentlessly to help her heal from her fractured ribs and other wounds. In the beginning, she even struggled to eat because of the injuries to her jaw, but she has been doing so well recently. Today, the scales confirmed it, an incredible 320kg! Well done, Victoria!

Thank you to everyone who continues to support her and who loves her.

Daisy the Blanket Queen is growing up! These days she hardly needs her beloved blankets for warmth, but on the chilliest winter nights, she still enjoys snuggling into one. While she’s becoming much more independent, her blankets remain a source of comfort, a little reminder of her baby days that she’s not quite ready to give up entirely.

True to her nature, Daisy has always walked her own journey at her own pace. Her milestones may come a little slower than other rhinos, but she continues to teach us all about patience, resilience, and the beauty of growing in your own time…and we love her for it.
