Ever watched your puppy suddenly bark at...

absolutely nothing? 😂

There's a good chance they are reacting to something.

A sound.

Movement.

A smell.

Another dog.

Something happening outside.

Instead of immediately shouting:

“STOP BARKING!”

Try asking:

“What triggered this?”

Understanding the trigger gives you a much better chance of changing the behaviour.

This isn't something we've talked about much before, but it turns out it's something people are actively searching for — a proper portrait of the family dog, printed and framed, not just another photo on a phone.

Try saying the cue once, then give your puppy a moment to process it.

If they don't respond, help them succeed rather than repeating the word over and over.

It's completely natural for puppies to want to stay close to their people.

But it's also important to teach them that being apart for short periods is okay.

🐾 Give them a comfortable place to settle.
❤️ Reward calm independence.
🧠 Gradually build up short periods apart.

That's the thing about a proper pet portrait - it doesn't flatten them into "cute dog picture #47." It catches the exact tilt of the head, the exact bow, the exact look that's just them.

Some need time to become comfortable.

Start small.

🚗 Sit in the stationary car.

❤️ Reward calm behaviour.

🚗 Take a very short drive.

🐾 Gradually build up.

And always make sure your puppy is properly secured while travelling.

A calm, confident traveller is much easier to take along on life's adventures.
