PUBLIC NOTICE: OPENING OF THE CAUSEWAY ROUTE

Kouga Local Municipality Roads and Stormwater Technical Team has conducted a detailed assessment of the Causeway Route following the recent heavy rainfall and flooding conditions.

Based on the technical inspection and structural assessment undertaken on site, the Causeway structure remains in a very good condition and has handled the current water flow effectively. The major culvert structures are confirmed to be 100% open and functioning efficiently, allowing adequate water movement through the system.

During the inspection, it was noted that some of the smaller stormwater pipes experienced partial blockage due to debris accumulation associated with the floodwaters. These blockages are being monitored and will continue to be attended to as part of ongoing maintenance and clean-up operations.

Following the assessment and considering the current conditions, the Causeway Route is now open for public use. Motorists and pedestrians are, however, urged to continue exercising caution, particularly during adverse weather conditions, as water levels may still fluctuate depending on rainfall intensity.

The Municipality will continue monitoring the area closely and the public will be kept informed should there be any further developments or changes in conditions.
