Meuse Farm We are an agroecological farm on the outskirts of Cape Town. We are an agroecological farm on the outskirts of Cape Town, South Africa.

Spring 2017 will be our first season farming a quarter hectare of specialty crops for the high end restaurant market and culturally relevant crops for the Hout Bay township communities. Excited to announce a Forage & Feast: a Wild Mushroom Foraging & Cooking Workshop! We are so lucky to work with a talented forager who brings us all sorts of fun mushrooms to use in our dishes, and we had the fun idea of inviting our Meuse friends into the world of foraging + cooking with mushrooms as well. 🍄‍🟫

The morning will begin with the group meeting in a local forest near Meuse Farm to learn from our local forager, Christian, how to identify and forage for mushrooms. With this small group of only 16, he will be able to help everyone distinguish between different types and safely select those good for consumption.

After foraging, the group will return to Meuse for a cooking demo with , where guests will learn how to prep, store, and cook the foraged wild mushrooms.

The workshop will move into a relaxed harvest lunch, where guests will gather around our communal table for a wild mushroom-focused meal highlighting the delicious seasonality of these foraged mushrooms.

Somehow it is almost June! Our Meuse farm-to-table restaurant has multiple seatings this month, including a special Father’s Day brunch! We also are excited to announce a Wild Mushroom Workshop where you can learn how to forage for mushrooms then head back to the kitchen with for a cooking demo followed by a delicious lunch. More details on each meal-style below. Don’t forget we are also offering a Winter Special of 15% off of our Seasonal and Community Harvest meals. 🍂

Today is a special day at Meuse Farm, because we are celebrating two birthdays of two women who keep this place running.

Carol: The gentle smile on an Open Day when she hands you a sunflower alongside your basket of fresh, juicy tomatoes. The hands that carefully select the produce not only for our restaurant clients but for our Veg Box customers as well. The woman who keeps everyone in check and accounted for, while still having time to train others and have a nice chat.

Chef Caidi: The brains and heart behind the delicious food you receive each time you eat at Meuse. The chef who spends hours planning new menus for our meal services so the dishes can include the most fresh and seasonal produce coming out of the farm at that exact moment. The warm soul who will always take a second to stop by tables and share about her passion for food, the farm, and cooking with the season.

Happy birthday to both of these incredible women who make Meuse Farm what it is. 🥂

When you join for our dinner service at the farm, you not only get to enjoy a delicious, abundant seasonal spread by , you also get to soak in the stunning nighttime view of the Hout Bay valley and mountains. After the sun sets, dusk sets in and the moon and stars show off. Grab a farm cordial or a glass of wine and feel free to relax on our deck overlooking the farm. 🌙

For May’s edition of Beyond the Bottle, has created a four-course menu specifically around the wines being poured by : tasting through each wine beforehand and building every dish to complement the structure, flavour, and character of what the winemaker will be serving on the evening.

We’re leaning into a comforting, winter-inspired menu this time around with autumnal produce from the farm and dishes designed for these chillier evenings. With only 22 guests per seating, these dinners are more intimate, and the winemaker joins the table for this evening to share the stories behind the wines, answer questions, and experience the meal alongside guests.

If you enjoy Rhône-style wines, like Syrah-forward reds and wines with savoury depth and spice, you’ll likely love the Journey’s End lineup. Their wines are shaped by the slopes overlooking False Bay, where ocean influence and granite soils bring freshness and structure to the wines.
