Hoedspruit AnimaL Outreach Hoedspruit AnimaL Outreach uplifts the lives of dogs in the rural communities around Hoedspruit

Hoedspruit, South Africa’s wildlife haven, is surrounded by impoverished, rural communities, that have no access to government veterinary facilities for domestic animals. Since 2016, HALO (Hoedspruit AnimaL Outreach) has worked together with the local community leaders to improve the mental and physical health of domestic animals. Seven communities, The Willows, LeBoeng, Moraba, The Oaks, Tswenyan

e, Mulalani, Manoutsa are visited every month by HALO volunteers who offer free veterinary care and education to owners. To be involved or donate, please contact [email protected] or call +27 82 692 3688.

This is what volunteering at HALO looks like: bottle feeding our litter of 7 newborn greyhound who were orphaned, cuddling with Lebos pups and giving some much desired attention to sick dogs like Danger.

Even if you only have an hour a month to spend, your time and effort is much appreciated ❤️

Thank you River, Savannah and Jade for spending the morning at our camp 🌟❤️

Sweet Bless came in completely paralysed. We assessed it was caused by parasites so a week of supportive treatment and this is Bless now ☘️🌟

The saga of our geyser continues… 😢

🌟The wonderful Charles Summers and Nikki came to our rescue to fit the donated geyser. But once the tedious job was done, the geyser ended up being broken beyond repair. What a disappointment!

😢We are therefore reaching out again for help! Who can help us to a working geyser? We really need hot water for our newborn pups and sick dogs and to be able to clean our kennels properly and keep the dogs safe.

Please if you are able to assist, contact HALO on 082 692 3688 🤞🏻🙏🏻

☘️ Fosters needed ☘️

7 Very young greyhound pups (likely less than 3 weeks old) were surrendered to HALO after their mom passed away.

We urgently need fosters that can take pups. They are on puppy milk and require regular feeding. It’s an intensive but very rewarding job. Who can help us out please and save these pups’ lives? They are going to be adopted out via Greyhound welfare organisation living the best lives 🌟

If you can help please reach out 064 6138441

We currently have a lot of very sick dogs and busy collecting 5 x 3-week old pups whose mum died. We urgently need soft food, puppy milk and snacks for our dogs. Can you help us? You can drop donations off at Hoedspruit or at our camp in the Oaks. Thank you ☘️🌟🙏🏻

Three wonderful dogs - three different stories - all three waiting for a long time now to find their forever home

🐶Dave - he came to camp more dead than alive, totally emaciated and with severe babesia and ehrlichia. He is an absolute miracle survivor. Dave would do best in a single household or family with older children. He is alert, good with other stable dogs and he adores affection. Dave is a big boy, around 6 years old is our guesstimate.

🐶Zimba - he may not look the part on the outside (a regular township brown dog, with one ear cut off and slightly chubby as he loves his food) but if you could see his heart, you would see the most beautiful dog ever!! This dog is the happiest, friendliest and sweetest dog around. Our health checks consistently say “Zimba always happy” and he is, he even has a smile on his face! He is the BEST with kids and is such a gentle sweetheart. He is great with other dogs too. This dog so deserves a loving family ❤️

☘️Lastly, our Joy - dumped at the gates of our camp for being pregnant (and gave birth that same evening). She was not well when she arrived, confused, depressed and withdrawn but as the weeks went by, the real Joy came to the surface. A gentle sweet big dog that stands her ground, easy going, great with children and other dogs. And she was the best mom (her last ever litter!), now ready for her new home.

Everyone loves puppies and the sad reality is that dogs like Joy, Dave and Zimba get overlooked time after time. And they have just so much love to give!

Please, please help us find this trio a much deserved loving home. They are keeping space for sick dogs that need our help and our kennels are not meant for long stays.

Reach out if you can open your home to any of them, 072 6340032

Ernies adoption fell through (not his fault)

We were hopeful Ernie, Joy’s last pup, has also found a home, but the adoption fell through for unclear reasons on the family’s side. We only want the BEST home for this adorable little boy, so the hunt continues. Please share far and wide so Ernie can find his loving forever home. He is now 12 weeks old and such a loveable character. He was the runt of the litter but the bravest by far, very good with other dogs, confident and easy going. Fully vaccinated and very well socialised. He has to be an indoor living dog!

We expect him to become a 25-30 kilo dog. Adoption fee to cover the mandatory sterilisation apply and home checks are done prior to approval of the adoption.
