It is with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Solly Monareng on Friday, 1 May.

Solly joined Perry’s Bridge Reptile Park in 2014 and quickly became an integral part of our team and our space. With immense pride and dedication, he maintained our beautiful gardens, assisted with maintenance, built enclosures, supported school group visits, and took great responsibility in managing our rat husbandry.
His hard work, quiet strength, and commitment left a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Solly was more than a colleague — he was part of our family, and his presence will be deeply missed.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Rest in peace, Solly. 🌿

A colleague of mine, Leon Marais was in the Kruger Park recently guiding for 's Safaris and had some amazing reptile sightings. Thought I would share two of his superb photos. A beautiful male Boomslang (Dispholidus typus) and a Nile Monitor (Varanus niloticus) busy eating a young Southern African Python (Python natalensis).

My voice is almost blocked out by the sound of our Northwestern Neotropical Rattle Snake (Crotalus culminatus).

Our stunning Crested Geckos (Rhacodactylus ciliatus) and their ability to hide.

After shedding our Western Green Mamba (Dendroaspis viridis) is spectacular. One of the benefits of being a snake is always looking good.
