โ€‹Tomorrow kicks off a 4 day long weekend, and while we usually love a good training session or adventure, we fully support some serious snoozing over the next few days. We want to see those top tier couch potatoes!
โ€‹How are you and your pups spending the break? Let the lounging commence!

Let them just be a dog! ๐Ÿ•
โ€‹Training is incredibly important, but what happens after training is where the real magic happens. Unstructured play and rest days are when the learning actually settles in their brains and more importantly, when your bond deepens. Show them you aren't just their trainer, you're their person. โค๏ธ

โ€‹How does your dog like to decompress and goof off after working hard? Tell us below! ๐Ÿ‘‡

Strangers stress this boy out, same Blu, same. ๐Ÿ˜‚
10 months old, incredibly sweet, and about to have his whole world changed.

He's joined us at Kindred K9 because right now, the world is just too much. A new stranger? Terrifying. A fun distraction? Forget focus. Feeling overwhelmed? Full shutdown.

Here's the thing most people don't know: when a dog gets overexcited or shuts down, they're not being naughty. They just haven't learned how to process their environment yet. No one ever taught them how.
That's exactly what we're here for.

Over the coming weeks, Blu is going to learn structure, build real confidence, and discover that the world isn't as scary as it seems. His brain is going to slow down. His focus is going to sharpen. And that handler bond? It's going to grow into something solid.

Comment a ๐Ÿพ if you're team Blu.

I was scared to take my own dog out.

Cooper was nervous, reactive, and so emotionally tuned into me that whatever I was feeling, he felt too.

I was scared to take him out. Didn't know which Cooper I'd get from one moment to the next and leaving him for two weeks at four years old felt like a risk I wasn't sure would pay off.

A few days in, he met Akira. He reacted. She didn't even flinch. And when he didn't get the response he was bracing for, something in him just... released. He started ignoring the other dogs.

Then came his first public session people pushing into his space, Cooper on edge and Sam did something that changed everything.

She advocated for him. Showed him he was allowed to simply move away. Cooper settled almost immediately.
He's still learning.

Busy places aren't his favourite, and he has his crate for when the world gets too loud. But he listens now. He assesses before he reacts. We're going to pet-friendly spots together, and that cuddle bug personality the one I knew was always in there is fully back.
Four years old wasn't too late. It was just the beginning. ๐Ÿพ
