How did your Friday end ?
🥰Our Friday ended with these little munchkins - 7 beautiful Australian shepherds that came in for their second vaccinations before going off to their new homes.
Always so encouraging to see healthy young, well socialized, properly dewormed and well nourished little pups !!
Well done Schoeman family in raising these little troopers. 😘😎

What makes this boy special ??
Luke came in last week - he was just slightly off colour and seemed uncomfortable to the owner ...
On presentation - his gums were slightly paler and he was guarding his belly slightly on palpation .. the reason ??

A burst splenic tumour that was bleeding into his abdomen !!
Next step - emergency surgery to remove his burst spleen here @ Eden vets !!!

The day after the surgery his "singing" resulted in a slightly earlier discharge but he is loving life again and rooling his roost again.

Thank you parents - for trusting your gut and for being observant - you definitely saved Luke's life !!! 🐾🥰

What do these 2 beautiful ladies have in common ? Both Gracie (@ 1.35kg) and Madam Mollie (@ 67kg) were spayed today.

No one day is the same as the next and then we won't even get started on the size and kisses of our patients 🥰- that is what we love about this job !!

We trust they will both be causing gentle mischief again from tomorrow morning 🐾
Thank you for trusting the Eden team with your girls today ..

With summer coming - these little guys need some special care.

Did you know - dogs don't sweat through their skin and have to breathe air in an out, to regulate their body temperature ?
When it gets really warm, they start panting.

Dogs with short noses and narrow nostrils though - really battle and like in this case - started vomiting sticky phlegm when he got excited and could not participate in any fun and games because he just could not breathe !!

Parts of his soft palate was removed ( almost 2cm ) and his nose was opened and 2 weeks after the surgery, he has already managed a 2km walk and can now play ball with his parents while enjoying "tug of war" with the other dogs.

Always worth it when you see the difference it makes in their lives !!

Behind every animal that leaves our practice, there is a team.
One very special team member though, is our nurse, Sister Nicole !! She is an incredible part of our Eden family and we want to thank her for everything she does 🥰😍🐾

How priviledged are we not, to have specialists that are now available to our practices and your animals !!

Thank you Dr Donald from CSSV specialist vets, that performed 2 TPLO's on Finley and Ellie on Monday.
Both suffered from cruciate ruptures and both babies have really recovered beautifully and have been discharged.

Next week we have Prof Johan Schoeman here performing Cardiac work ups the whole day.

Really wonderful to be able to offer this to your pets ..

None of us want to see one of our babies' eyes "POP" - this was unfortunately what happened to dear Jules. Various things contributed - the hair from her nasal folds was rubbing on the cornea and together with a small superficial ulcer, that she got while playing - this just went from bad to worse from there on.
By the time, she arrived @ Eden vets, her ulcer had "popped" (desmetocoele) and the whole eye had collapsed !!
Normally the eye would be removed at this stage, but the owners agreed to have a conjunctival graft done ( skin flap from next to the eye, that is sutured onto the cornea with magnification that the plugs / seals the hole ) and this is madam 2 weeks post op !!
She can see again, the graft has taken and the eye is looking beautiful 🤓🥰

Big boy Harley has a beautiful story to tell.

In July 2025 he first came to visit - He was severely overweight, had a horrible flaking itching skin with redness between the toes and was shuffling along due to his patella luxation and the pain in his knees. He had only been on repeated Cytopoint injections and this big boy was struggling.

Diagnosis : ATOPY + FOOD allergy + Patella luxation

Harley was changed onto a RAW balance hypoallergenic FISH diet, we worked hard on reducing his weight, the owner was treating his feet with a vinegar bath and he is only occasionally getting a minimal dose of Prednisone or Cytopoint when the environmental allergies flare up. His knees have strengthened with no need for surgery 🥰😄and he is just LOVING life !!!
