⚠️ PUBLIC AWARENESS: Please Don't Paint Animals 🐾
Images like these have been circulating on social media, showing dogs and other animals painted in bright colours.
While they may appear creative or amusing, painting animals is not safe and should never be encouraged.
Dogs have sensitive skin, and many paints can cause irritation, burns, allergic reactions, or even poisoning if they lick themselves—which dogs naturally do. The process of being restrained and painted can also be stressful and frightening for them.
At the Eshowe SPCA, we encourage everyone to appreciate animals for who they are and to celebrate them in ways that never compromise their health, safety, or welfare.
Please think carefully before sharing images like these. Even when shared with good intentions, they can unintentionally encourage children, people who are unaware of the risks, or those who may deliberately mistreat animals to imitate what they see.
Let's be advocates for kindness and responsible animal care. Every animal deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.
