UPDATE!! We are so grateful to have received some very generous donations and Dr Wood is going to proceed with her surgery today. Thank you so much to everyone for your kindness.

This is Birha, picked up from the side of the road in a rural area by a passing good Samaritan. The x-ray is of her shattered back leg. Birha is kind, stoic, loyal and affectionate and deserves the opportunity to live out her years in comfort. Right now she needs two things; funding for the procedure to fix her leg and the promise of a permanent, loving home. Any donation towards her care will be greatly appreciated.

What a difference a few days make! This little ball fluff was brought to us last Thursday which is when the first video was taken. The second was taken a few minutes ago. We believe he is a Lanner Falcon, but stand to be corrected. If any raptor experts are able to confirm species we would be very grateful.

We were very saddened by the admission of this young Egyptian Gander last week. He was brought to us after being shot in the wing by a teenager with an air r***e. Apparently this is not the first time this individual has deliberately hurt an animal. The SPCA is involved and are investigating. The gander is resting comfortably and Dr Wood is going to attempt to stabilise the wing with a pin.

Many of you may be aware that there is a national shortage of Phenobarbitone, a medication used to control seizures. Measures have been taken to import the drug, but it is unknown if it will be in sufficient quantities or sustainable. The cost will also be affected. If you have a dog currently on phenobarb, please contact us as soon as possible to discuss alternative medication. Alternatives are available, but it is imperative not to make a sudden switch from one medication to another.
