Here are some tips to help you and your pets through the season:
1. Keep your pet's tick & flea treatment & deworming up to date.
2. Watch for allergies - look out for extra scratching, sneezing, or paw chewing.
3. Prevent overheating - exercise during the coolest parts of the day, provide plenty of fresh water, and never leave pets in a parked car.
4. Ensure that the information on your pet's microchip is up to date.
5. Watch out for dangerous and poisonous plants - Like lilies, cycads, ivy, etc.
6. Skip the snail & slug bait - it is highly toxic to pets.
7. Check your pet's paws, ears, nose and coat for grass seeds - they may seem harmless, but they can pose serious health risks to pets once it enters the skin, ear canal or nose.
8. Regular grooming - regular brushing will help control shedding and prevent painful hair matting. It also provides the perfect opportunity to check your pet's body for any irregularities.
