PLOTO’S STORY…

🐾 PLUTO IS READY FOR HIS FOREVER HOME 🐾

For over three months, Pluto lived as a stray—scared, alone, and doing everything he could to survive. He avoided being caught, he was terrified of people, sounds, and sudden movements. Trust was something he simply didn’t know how to give.

With the help of amazing people, Pluto’s story began to change. A huge thank you to Kerry and Shaun from SAFE Animal Rescue NPO for assisting with equipment leading to a safe trapping.

Pluto then received the care he needed at Pulse Veterinary Clinic, followed by boarding and training with the amazing David Padbury at T’shinga Kennels.

Here, Pluto was given warm meals, a soft bed, patience, and time. He also got a new collar, treats and goodies that were bought at Muddy Dog, Kloof.

Slowly, he began to feel safe. Earning his trust took work—but once he chooses you, he is gentle, loyal, and incredibly loving.

Pluto is learning to sit, wait, stay, and walk well on a leash. He enjoys garden zoomies, gets on well with other dogs, and loves a cozy couch nap. Toys are still new to him, but in a loving home, we’re sure he’ll discover the joy in them too.

Now, after months of growth and training, Pluto is ready for adoption. He needs a family who understands rescue dogs and will give him time, patience, and continued guidance. In return, he will give unwavering loyalty and quiet, beautiful love.

GOING HOME…

Guests recently returning home, were given the “Going Home” special treatment before meeting up with their parents…some of the others were also included to make a fuss of them…😊😄

A good brush followed by a scrub, shampoo and tidy up on ears and feet created interesting reactions…they loved the ear attention, and gave big splashes when the feet were pampered. 🫠🤗

Leonard and the team have mastered the art of getting the best from the dogs while they receive the Order of the Bath…😄

As the new year begins to settle in, we are reflecting on just a few of the holiday period memories…

There were so many, and we are so grateful for our clients in helping us to make them…🙏🏻🫠✨

SCRUB TO SHINE…

Before he goes, Diesel is getting a special scrub, shampoo and nail clip…

In all cases, the dogs in our care get a good wipe down and brush before they depart.

Some dogs are booked for a good deep scrub and shampoo, which might include a nail clip as well before they depart.

CONTRAST…
The long and the short if it…

Some of the magic we experience at the kennels is taking advantage of opportunities to extend our own understanding of how dogs get on, and their unexpected rewards that inspire us.

We watch temperaments and enjoy matching guest dogs into new relationships…

Bokkie and Jack became best of friends…ended up sleeping in the same kennel and playing together in the exercise areas…so very exciting.

HAPPY ENDING

Just received a message from Jade at Paw Prints…the pup we assisted with and took to Jade has been reunited with its owner.

The owner was given some feed for the pup by Jade, and will have a series of vaccinations early next week.

Aftermath Trauma

Fireworks are out if control, and this is the aftermath if last nights out if control and inconsiderate human pollution…we are grateful we could help

This young mixed breed neutered dog was rescued on Gowans Road, off Lello Road in the Assagay Valley by the team from T’shinga Kennels. He is obviously disorientated from last nights fireworks. He is used to people…he is now with Jade at Paw Prints where he is safe off the roads.

AFTER THE NIGHT

Beauty and Lindo were up and about early as we set about the morning kennel routine…into the exercise areas, clean, feed and check all was well. The guests are settled and content.

The Midnight Watch…

I am so very grateful to the New Year Team for being up at midnight with all the dogs tonight.

We had a fair amount of distant fireworks, and then some closer to home this year.

The dogs were all ok, and I thank Beauty and Lindo for their empathy and dedication…they were stars.
