Hello I'm from Feeding the Furballs,

Please sponsor me for R250.

Simply comment sponsor and SCFP will send details. They will shop and deliver items to the charity with a card and your name on it.
Please share.
I am an outreach animal, your donation will help an animal similar to me. Please note each charity sends a wishlist and the volunteers shop and pack as best as possible to that wishlist, so charities get what they want. Gifts can include food, treats, warm items, toys, useful items etc. Often charities opt for bulk options as this allows your generous donation to go further, instead of many small packs of food, a large bag will be purchased for the animals to share - it makes the funds go so much further. We hope you can understand the need to do this

Rabies Report KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, 14 February – 05 June 2026

Human:
6 year old little boy, Inanda area, Ethekwini Metro

Animals:
1. Canine, Queensburgh, Ethekwini Metro
2. Canine, Pinetown, Ethekwini Metro
3. Canine, Mphaphala, Umlalazi, King Cetshwayo District
4. Canine, Murchison, Ray Nkonyeni, Ugu District
5. Canine, KwaWoza, Umsinga, Umzinyathi

It’s been a while since our last update, but that doesn’t mean the threat has gone away.

Please don’t be misled by the seemingly low numbers being reported. Rabies cases are on the rise, while State Veterinary Services are working tirelessly to manage the Foot-and-Mouth Disease outbreak affecting the country. As a result, fewer rabies vaccination campaigns are being carried out, and it is likely that many cases are going unreported.

The heartbreaking loss of a young child to rabies is a stark reminder that this disease remains a very real and widespread danger. It also highlights the urgent need for greater awareness and prevention.

Adding to the concern, rabies is now being detected in areas where it has not previously been seen, showing that the disease continues to spread.

Protect your pets, your family, and your community. Make sure your pets’ rabies vaccinations are up to date and encourage others to do the same.

What to do in the event of a bite OR SCRATCH from ANY MAMMAL that could have rabies:

1. Wash any scratches or wounds with running water and soap for 10 minutes.
2. Get to a doctor or hospital for a course of 4 vaccinations. If the doctor or clinic is unsure of the treatment protocol, there is a rabies hotline for health professionals that they can call. If you have a bite or scratch with broken skin, and are previously unvaccinated, it is essential to get injections of rabies immunoglobulin (RIG) into the wound in addition to vaccine.

YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO REQUEST AN AMBULANCE IF YOU NEED TRANSPORT
