Helping cats can look different for everyone!

For our new followers (or anyone who needs a refresher), here’s what we mean when we say that Our Community Cares for Cats:
🍲 Our volunteer feeders give two meals daily to 30+ cats in the Morningside area. If you have an hour to spare each week, we’d love to hear from you!
🪤 We trap and sterilise all the cats in our care to stop the cycle of overpopulation. We believe in a future where every cat has someone to care for them – and that means controlling their breeding so no little families need to suffer alone.
🎁 We collect donations of cat food at regular dropoff spots at breakfast, dessert and Cat cafe, FSC and oh Taco Mexican Taqueria 🌮. If you could host a donation box, please get in touch!
💰 Regular donations save lives by keeping cats fed, bills paid, and U.S. saying “yes” to more cats in need. If you can help with even a small contribution, please donate today:

We’re never quite sure how to say thank you after our fundraisers, because whatever expectations we have for our events, our supporters exceed them. From our collaborators at Meankat Café & Cat Sanctuary NPC and breakfast, dessert and Cat cafe, prize sponsors Château Gâteaux Durban North and volunteers who handled the stalls in the hot sun for hours to the bakers who created delicate, delicious treats with the most thoughtful little touches… thank you!

Perhaps most of all, thank you to everyone who made a purr-chase or donated, and congratulations to two very happy raffle winners. 🥳🍰

Thank you for the sweetest feature, Durban North News. Tamlyn Prosser’s mission to help cats through breakfast, dessert and Cat cafe is beautifully communicated – and so is the power of cake! ✨ 🍰 🐈

Wondering how a Cake Sale for Cats works? For our new followers, here are the answers to a few questions that come up often at our fundraisers – scroll through to find the one that’s on your mind, and get some answers!

Prices start at just R10. We’ll be selling baked goods at a wide range of prices, and there’ll be something for everyone.

Yes! We accept payments with Yoco and SnapScan, so you can support cats without carrying cash.

Our baked goods are halaal-friendly, made without alcohol or gelatine. As much of what we’ll be selling is prepared with love by the home bakers in our community, they are not halaal-certified as a commercial bakery would be.

Firstly, we know that there’s someone in your life who’d love to receive a baked gift – but yes, absolutely! Come along to order from the menu at breakfast, dessert and Cat cafe (they don’t just do desserts!), meet some adoptable cats, buy beautiful merch handmade by faatima | a little art, a little life, get the kids involved in colouring, buy a raffle ticket, and get your face painted. You can also bring along dry or wet cat food and pop it into the donation box hosted at 9 Lives! Every purr-chase and donation supports our mission to feed cats in need.

Both MeanKat Café and Mitchell Park Paws would gratefully accept your help – whether you’re volunteering, hosting a food donation drive, or making a monetary contribution to the care of cats. Visit their profiles and send a DM about how you’d like to get involved!

Wondering where to find us? Here are all the details. See you at Cake Sale for Cats 😍🐈‍⬛

Final call for bakers! 🧑🏽‍🍳

Cake Sale for Cats is less than a week away and if you’ve been thinking of contributing, now’s your chance to sign up at the link in our bio ✍️ We’ll close the form at midnight tonight, and after that, the best way to support will be by buying a raffle ticket and shopping for cake this Saturday.

❗️ If you’ve already volunteered and haven’t heard from us, please send a DM – we are trying to reach two bakers who didn’t leave contact details with their donation pledge.
