🐱💉 WELLNESS WEDNESDAY – CAT VACCINES

Tiny kitten, big protection! 🐾💕

Did you know kittens need a series of vaccinations while they’re growing?

Maternal antibodies from mom help protect young kittens, but they can interfere with vaccines. That’s why we vaccinate more than once — to give your kitten the best chance of developing their own protective immunity. 🛡️

Vaccination helps protect against serious diseases including cat flu, panleukopaenia, feline leukaemia and rabies.

Our kitten vaccination programme starts at 6 weeks, with boosters roughly a month apart. 💉🐱

Have a look at our infographic to see what we vaccinate against and when! 👇

🐾 MEDICAL MONDAY: FELINE RESPIRATORY DISEASE COMPLEX 🤧🐱

Does your cat have a runny nose, watery eyes or the sneezes? They may have what we often think of as a “cold” in cats — Feline Respiratory Disease Complex (FRDC).

Just like our colds, it can leave your kitty feeling pretty miserable. 🤒 Look out for sneezing, a blocked or runny nose, watery eyes, poor appetite and being quieter than usual.

It’s also very contagious between cats, so it can spread quickly in multi-cat homes, shelters and boarding facilities.

💉 Keeping vaccinations up to date can help reduce how sick your cat becomes.

🚨 If your kitty stops eating, seems very unwell, has sore eyes or is struggling to breathe, it’s time to see your vet.

💚 Introducing Wellness Wednesday

At Dunvet, we believe that healthy pets start with informed owners. That’s why we’re excited to introduce Wellness Wednesday — a weekly mid‑week post dedicated to keeping your pets thriving, not just surviving.

Every Wednesday, we’ll share practical, easy‑to‑use guidance on the things that keep your pets well.

Wellness Wednesday is all about prevention — the small steps that make the biggest difference. It complements our Medical Monday posts by shifting the focus from treating illness to building long‑term health.

This week, we’re starting with a topic that protects every dog, every day: vaccinations. After Monday’s deep dive into Parvovirus, we’ll show you how vaccines form the strongest shield against dangerous diseases.

Together, let’s make wellness a habit.

🩺 Medical Monday at Dunvet Veterinary Clinic

Every Monday, we’ll be talking about a common medical condition we see in pets — helping owners become more aware, recognise early warning signs, and know when it’s time to seek veterinary care.

🐾 This week’s topic: Canine Parvovirus (Parvo)

Parvo is one of the most serious and fast‑moving diseases we treat in puppies and young dogs. It spreads easily, progresses quickly, and without urgent care it can be fatal — but early recognition saves lives.

Have a look at our infographic and keep your pets safe this spring. 🐾

📸 Snapshot Sunday — Our Very First One

Welcome to our first ever Snapshot Sunday at Dunvet.

We’re starting this new tradition in honour of Bobs, who taught us that life can change in an instant — and that we should never take our time together for granted. The small, ordinary moments we share with our loved ones often become the memories we hold closest.

Today’s reminder is simple:
Enjoy the now.

A slow walk, a quiet chat, a cuddle on the couch, a shared laugh, a moment in the sun — whatever today looks like, take a second to pause and appreciate it. These small snapshots become the stories we carry with us for years.

If you’re spending time with someone special this Sunday, share your Snapshot with us — a photo, a moment, or even just a feeling from today.

To begin this new tradition, I’ve added my own Snapshot in the comments — a silly little moment from today that made me smile.

Here’s to the memories we’re making right now.
