A bit of feel-good news regarding service dogs... 🐶💞

Tsunami, a nine-year-old Border Collie once rescued after suffering neglect and abuse, has been immortalised with a bronze statue in Maracaibo, Venezuela.
The monument, named “Guardian of Hope,” was unveiled at Vereda del Lago with Tsunami himself there for the ceremony.
The search-and-rescue dog became a national hero after Venezuela’s earthquakes in June. His handler Jorge Beens says Tsunami located 26 people during the rescue operation, working through damaged buildings and rubble to help teams find those trapped inside.
Now the dog once in need of rescuing has a permanent monument celebrating the lives he helped others save.

In the days and months after 9/11, more than 300 search-and-rescue dogs worked tirelessly at Ground Zero, searching for survivors and, later, human remains.

But they gave the rescue workers something more than their incredible sense of smell. Their presence brought comfort, companionship and a little hope during unimaginable heartbreak.

On 9/11, we remember the human and canine heroes who gave everything. 🐾❤️

Think the Africanis is just a mixed-breed mutt? Think again! 👀

Often dismissed as “mongrels” or “township dogs”, the Africanis is so much more.

🌍 Ancient. Smart. Tough. Athletic. Loyal. Loving.

The Africanis is an ancient landrace — a dog that evolved naturally in Southern Africa, adapting over generations through survival and natural selection rather than selective kennel breeding.

In other words… they didn’t need humans to design them. Africa did! 🇿🇦🐾

From the veld to the family home, the Africanis is perfectly adapted to the African spirit — resilient, clever and wonderfully unique.

📖 Keep your eyes open for this month's blog on the Africanis.
