🐾❤️ Special Edition Outreach – Friday, 12 June 2026 ❤️🐾

A promise made is a promise kept.

We told these dogs that they would not have to sleep in the cold anymore, and thanks to the generosity of Theresa from Pretoria East, we were able to deliver on that promise. Four donated kennels received some much-needed TLC, a thorough clean, and a fresh coat of paint, proving once again that a little love can go a very long way.

Seeing the excitement and comfort these kennels brought to their new occupants was truly heartwarming. For some of these dogs, this is the very first time they have had a safe, dry shelter of their own.

But as often happens during outreach, as soon as we delivered these kennels, we discovered even more dogs desperately needing the same protection from the bitter winter cold. Sadly, our kennel supply has now run dry. 😭

The reality is that our resources are becoming increasingly stretched, but one thing remains certain: we will not stop helping. We cannot turn a blind eye to the suffering we witness in our communities.

🙏 We urgently appeal for donated kennels – small, medium, or large. Even old kennels that need a bit of repair can make a life-changing difference. We are happy to collect.

A special thank you also goes to Inspector Andrew from Centurion SPCA, whom we reached out to last week for assistance.
Thanks to his swift intervention: ✅ A sick roaming dog was safely collected and received veterinary treatment. ✅ A property was investigated where a Pit Bull was confined to a tiny cage, along with two tortoises on the premises. ✅ All animals were safely removed and are now receiving the care they deserve.

Thank you, Inspector Andrew, for your dedication, compassion, and willingness to step in when animals need a voice.

❄️🐾 URGENT APPEAL: Kennels Needed for Our Outreach Dogs in Olievenhoutbosch 🐾❄️

Winter has arrived, as we know, and with it comes bitter cold nights for so many animals in our outreach communities in Olievenhoutbosch.

The Pawsitive Animal Shelter Outreach Team urgently requires dog kennels of any size – small, medium, or large. If you have an unused kennel standing in your yard, garage, or storage, please consider donating it. We will gladly collect.

Many of the dogs we assist have never known the comfort or safety of a kennel. For some, a simple shelter from the wind and rain is a luxury they have never experienced.

Over the past 8 months, we have done our best to provide kennels to those most in need, but our resources have run dry, and the demand far exceeds what we currently have available.

A kennel is more than just a wooden structure—it is warmth, protection, dignity, and sometimes the difference between surviving a freezing winter night or not.

Please ask family, friends, neighbours, or businesses if they have old kennels they no longer use. Every single donation, regardless of size or condition, can make a life-changing difference.

Together, we can ensure that fewer dogs spend winter sleeping on bare ground.

It appears that the team at Pawsitive Animal Shelter may have caught a serious case of Golf Fever! 🏌️‍♀️🏌️‍♂️

Yes, we know... another golf day! But at least we're "swinging" in the right direction! 😄

Every rand raised helps us continue caring for abandoned, abused, neglected and vulnerable animals while also supporting our outreach work in communities where families and their pets are facing difficult circumstances.

Shelters across South Africa are under immense pressure. Veterinary costs continue to rise, food prices increase monthly, and the demand for assistance never stops.

Fundraising events like these help us keep our kennels running, our outreach vehicles moving, and hope alive for countless animals that have nowhere else to turn.

🐾 Olievenhoutbosch, Wednesday 11 June🐾

Today, once again, we managed to feed the dogs and cats we have committed to supporting. We do it diligently, faithfully, and with love. But if we are honest, some days are incredibly difficult.

It is heartbreaking to witness not only the suffering of animals, but also the hardship reflected in so many human faces. Every week we are reminded of how much more help is needed and how much more we wish we could do.

Our outreach programme is currently about 75% self-funded. We try our best with fundraising initiatives and raffles offering wonderful prizes, but the reality is that many families are facing financial pressures of their own, and understandably donations are becoming harder to come by.

Yet we cannot stop.

We continue to appeal for donations of dog and cat food, blankets, kennels, jerseys, dip, dewormers, and tick & flea treatments. Every single donation, no matter how small, helps lighten the burden of saving lives.

Between Annette, Isabel, Derrick, and all our incredible supporters who stand with us, we will not back down. Every Wednesday we will show up, because this community relies on us.

We see cruelty. We see abuse. We see neglect. We see malnutrition. The list goes on. But we also see resilience, hope, and animals desperately waiting for a second chance.

Today we called on the Centurion SPCA to intervene in a serious case. Thank you to Inspector Andrew and the SPCA team for responding. We still have one deeply concerning case that remains unresolved, and we are holding our breath, hoping that the right action will be taken.

To everyone who supports our outreach, donates, shares our posts, or simply believes in what we do — thank you. You are the reason we keep going when the road becomes difficult.

UPDATE ON ROCKY: UNFORTUNATELY THE PRE-ADOPTION PROCESS DID NOT WORKOUT - ROCKY IS BACK AT THE SHELTER WITH ALL HIS MATES..

🖤🐾 ROCKY – FROM SURVIVOR TO SOUL-STEALER (IN THE BEST WAY) 🐾🖤

Some stories don’t just tug at your heart… they grab it, shake it, and refuse to let go.
Rocky is one of those stories.

Once a victim of a dog fighting ring and used as a bait dog, Rocky was found in Pretoria West on a rubbish dump surrounded by the remains of other souls who didn’t make it.

Left for dead… until he wasn’t. Because he moved. And in that tiny flicker of life, a chain of heroes stepped in.
From Angelique Goncalves(Hope for Paws) and Anita Landman (Animal Justice League), to Marco Viljoen (1 Dog Challenge) who made sure Rocky didn’t just survive—but was saved properly and placed into safe hands… Rocky’s journey has been nothing short of a miracle powered by many hands and big hearts.

When Rocky arrived at Pawsitive Animal Shelter mid-2025, we honestly didn’t know what his future would look like. One eye gone, scars etched into him like permanent memories of cruelty… and yet somehow, no bitterness. Just quiet resilience.

And then… yesterday happened.
The Bishop family walked in.

And like Rocky always does… he worked his magic.

Because who wouldn’t fall in love with him?

A gentle survivor. A walking lesson in forgiveness. A dog who should have given up—but chose not to.

Now Rocky is on “pre-permanent” adoption in Wapadrand, Pretoria East. And we are holding our breath (and maybe our coffee mugs a little tighter than usual), hoping this is his forever chapter.

To the Bishop family—thank you. You didn’t just see a damaged dog. You saw a warrior who deserves peace.

🛑 And now for the important part…

PLEASE… no “returnsies.”🤞❣️🤣

He is a once-in-a-lifetime dog with a lifetime worth of “how is he even still this sweet??” energy.

We’re not saying he’ll judge you…
…but he has survived a dog fighting ring, so honestly, your WiFi password mistakes won’t scare him.

Rocky deserves stability. Soft beds. Gentle hands. And a home that says, “you’re ours now” and means it forever.

So please, world—send him love, send him prayers, and if you’re the Bishop family reading this…

No pressure… but also… we’re all emotionally invested now 😅🐾
