🐾 Our Shelter Needs You! 🐾

WEEKEND VOLUNTEERS!!!!

At Pawsitive Animal Shelter, every wagging tail, happy purr, and second chance is made possible by the kindness of people like you.

We are calling on our local communities in Laezonia, Mnandi, Copperleaf, Blue Hills, and surrounding suburbs to come together and support your local animal shelter.

Whether you can volunteer your time, donate supplies, become a supporter, or simply spread the word, every contribution makes a real difference.

Our animals thrive on love, attention, and human interaction. Volunteers help with walking dogs, socialising cats, cleaning, feeding, and giving our rescued animals the care and companionship they deserve while waiting for their forever homes.

🌟 Students and young people are especially welcome! 🌟

If you're looking to complete community service hours, gain experience working with animals, or simply want to make a positive impact, we'd love to have you join us. Spending time with our animals is not only rewarding for them, but also incredibly fulfilling for our volunteers.

There is nothing quite like going home knowing that you helped a frightened animal feel safe, loved, and cared for.

Together, we can build a stronger, more compassionate community for animals in need.

🐶 Volunteer your time

💔 ZIGGY — A LITTLE LIFE THAT MATTERED SO MUCH 🌈🐾

Sometimes, the animals who come into our lives for only a short while leave the biggest paw prints on our hearts.

This is the story of Ziggy, a beautiful little boy whose life began with uncertainty, loneliness and danger… but who, thankfully, found love before his journey came to an end.

I found Ziggy at the Blue Hills Sasol garage. He was incredibly friendly and came straight up to me, as if he already knew that someone would help him.

I asked the attendant:

"Does this friendly boy belong here?"

His answer broke my heart.

"No, Ma'am. He has been coming here since he was a baby… but they want to kill him. The boss said so."

And just like that, the gears at Pawsitive Animal Shelter went into motion.

Isabel and Derrick fetched Ziggy and took him to The Society for Animals in Distress, where he received his vaccinations, a health check and his FeLV test.

And we were overjoyed when that little boy tested FeLV negative. ❤️

Ziggy was safe.

Then came the most beautiful part of his story…

Ziggy found a home.

Not long afterwards, Ute Schutz, Director of Pawsitive Animal Shelter, opened her home to Ziggy and Toffee as stable cats.

And oh, did Ziggy love his new life. ❤️

He played.

He climbed trees.

He explored.

He met the staff.

He watched those enormous horses around him — surely they must have looked like absolute giants through the eyes of this little boy.

But Ziggy wasn't scared.

Because Ziggy was home.

Ziggy was loved.

Ziggy was safe.

And most importantly…

Ziggy was spoilt. ❤️

Sadly, over the past few days, Ziggy became unwell.

Ute did everything she could. She took him for two veterinary opinions, desperately hoping there would be an answer and a way to save her little boy.

But the diagnosis was advanced FIP.

And today, 8 October 2026, Ziggy's journey came to a quiet and heartbreaking pause.

There was nothing more that could be done for this happy little boy.

So Ziggy went to Heaven. 🌈💔

We don't know where this little kitten had lived before we found him.

We don't know what he endured.

We don't know how many nights he spent fending for himself.

But we do know this…

He escaped being killed.

And in the final almost four months of his life, Ziggy experienced something he may never have known before:

A HOME.
A FAMILY.
LOVE.
SAFETY.
AND A LIFE WHERE HE WAS TRULY CHERISHED.

Thank you to the Schutz family for opening your hearts and your home to Ziggy.

Thank you for giving him the life he deserved.

It may have been far too short…

But it was filled with love.

And sometimes, that is the greatest gift we can give an animal — not necessarily a lifetime, but a beautiful chapter where they finally know what it feels like to belong. ❤️

Rest softly, little Ziggy. 🐾

No more fear.
No more uncertainty.
No more wondering where you belong.

Run free, beautiful boy. 🌈

May you have endless adventures in your new home, where one day, we hope, there will be no goodbyes.

You mattered, Ziggy.

You were loved.

You were home.

And you will never be forgotten. ❤️🐾🌈

RIP LITTLE ZIGGY
Your paw prints remain forever on our hearts. 🕊️

❤️🐾 KINDNESS THAT REACHES THEM — ONE DONATION, ONE ANIMAL, ONE HOME AT A TIME 🐾❤️

Sometimes we forget just how much day-to-day goodness can change a life.

A bag of food.
A warm blanket.
A kennel to sleep in.
A bowl.
A leash.
A repaired jersey.
A little bit of time.
A little bit of love.

These may seem like small things to some of us, but to an animal living without the comforts we take for granted, they mean everything. ❤️

Today, we want to give a very special THANK YOU to Brenda Frambs for her incredibly kind donation towards our ongoing Pawsitive Animal Shelter Outreach Programme. Brenda didn't simply donate — she rallied her local Lyttelton community to help the voiceless, bringing together people who believe that animals deserve kindness, dignity and a better life.

🐾 Thank you, Wilma, for the two beautiful wooden kennels.
🐾 Thank you, Karen, for the sturdy plastic kennel.
🐾 And Brenda, thank you for ALL the incredible stitch work, blanket cutting and repairs, pillows, leashes, bowls and jerseys.

Your hands, your time, your generosity and your heart are now reaching animals who may never even know your name — but they will feel your kindness. ❤️

This week, Olievenhoutbosch Extension 27 was once again the recipient of some of these wonderful donations.

And this is exactly why we keep going.

Our Wednesday Outreach Programme doesn't stop. Every Wednesday, week after week, we return to the communities and animals that need us. It is not a once-off project. It is not a campaign that ends when the photographs are taken.

It is ongoing. Consistent. Relentless. 🐾

Because the need doesn't stop.

And neither do we.

We continually need:

🐶 Dog food
🐱 Cat food
🛏️ Blankets & warm bedding
🏠 Wooden & plastic kennels
🥣 Food & water bowls
🪢 Leads & collars
🧥 Jerseys
🦟 Tick & flea powder
🧴 Dip & parasite treatments
🧱 Building materials
🔨 Pallets
🛠️ Fencing & mesh
🚪 Gates
🍖 Treats
…and honestly, an ongoing, never-ending list of necessities.

Every single item donated becomes part of something much bigger.

It becomes a warm night instead of a cold one.
A full tummy instead of hunger.
Protection from the elements.
A safer home.
A little dignity.
A little comfort.
And most importantly — a reminder that someone cares. ❤️

To everyone who contributes, whether you donate a kennel, a blanket, a bag of food, a packet of treats, building material or simply your time — THANK YOU.

There is no donation too small when there are so many animals needing so much.

Let's continue spreading day-to-day goodness to those who cannot ask for it themselves.

🐾❤️ Pawsitive Animal Shelter — Every Animal Deserves a 2nd Chance. ❤️🐾

Please help us keep our Wednesday Outreach Programme going.
Together, one small act of kindness at a time, we can change an entire home — and an entire life.

🐾 WHY ADOPT A PUPPY? ❤️

There is something incredibly special about adopting a puppy and giving them the chance to grow up knowing love, safety and belonging from the very beginning.

Early adoption can help puppies develop into confident, well-socialised companions. With the right guidance, training, routine and plenty of love, those early experiences can shape their behaviour and emotional development for years to come. 🐶❤️

At Pawsitive Animal Shelter, our beautiful puppies Mia, Rocco and Luna are still waiting for their families to find them. 🥰

🎉 Rex is our first lucky boy — he has already been booked for adoption! 🎉

But three little paws are still waiting...

If you have room in your heart and home for a puppy, please consider adoption. Don't just give them a home — give them the best possible start to life.

🐾 Mia • Rocco • Luna 🐾

❤️ Every animal deserves a 2nd chance.

📞 Contact Pawsitive Animal Shelter to find out more about adoption.

(Hahahaa🤣 taking photos of puppies, moving at the speed of light, perhaps a job for a professional)

(mommy, Hashingi, stray rescued with her pups from Erasmia area - also up for adoption)
