What puppy owners should know before bringing home a pup.
Puppies aren't little adult dogs. They're learning how to navigate an entirely new world, and that process comes with excitement, curiosity, frustration, mistakes and a whole lot of chaos.
They don't need perfection from you โ and you don't need perfection from them.
They need guidance, consistency, patience, appropriate boundaries, opportunities to explore and, most importantly, a relationship with you.
Socialisation isn't about forcing your puppy to meet everyone and everything. Training isn't about controlling every behaviour. Confidence isn't built by throwing a puppy into situations they're not ready for.
It's about giving them experiences that help them learn: โI can handle this. I can figure this out. And my human is here to help me.โ
So while you're teaching manners, lead walking and recall, don't forget to let them be puppies too.
Play. Explore. Get dirty. Make mistakes. Have fun.
Because this stage is incredibly short โ and one day you'll miss the little chaos that is driving you crazy today. โค๏ธ๐ถ
Raise the dog you want to live with. Start with the puppy in front of you.
